Our client is recruiting for aJunior Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering support to ensure the safe reliable and efficient operation of mechanical equipment and plant assets. The role assists with preventative and corrective maintenance equipment reliability breakdown investigations continuous improvement projects and engineering administration. The incumbent works closely with maintenance and production teams to minimise downtime improve equipment performance and ensure compliance with company engineering standards safety regulations and applicable legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide day-to-day mechanical engineering support to maintenance and production teams.
Assist with preventative predictive and corrective maintenance planning and execution.
Investigate mechanical equipment failures and participate in root cause analysis to prevent recurring issues.
Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and plant availability.
Support planned plant shutdowns maintenance projects and commissioning activities.
Assist in developing and updating maintenance procedures work instructions and engineering documentation.
Ensure compliance with engineering standards safety procedures statutory requirements and company policies.
Liaise with contractors suppliers and service providers where required.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving productivity quality safety and cost efficiency.
Maintain accurate maintenance records reports and technical documentation.
Assist with spare parts management and equipment lifecycle planning.
Support the implementation of reliability-centred maintenance (RCM) and condition monitoring practices where applicable.
Participate in risk assessments safety audits and incident investigations.
Perform any other engineering-related duties as reasonably assigned.
Personal Attributes:
Grade 12 (Matric).
Bachelors Degree or BEng/BSc in Mechanical Engineering.
Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) (advantageous).
ECSA Candidate Engineer Registration.
