A South African ICT consulting and technology solutions company is looking for a Emerging Technology COE Head (Software Engineering) to join their team in Johannesburg GP. The company provides technology consulting managed IT services software development cybersecurity and telecommunications solutions to businesses.
Purpose of the role:
Lead the Software Engineering Function defining the engineering strategy operating model governance and technology roadmap to deliver secure scalable and high-quality enterprise software solutions that support business growth and digital transformation.

Purpose of the role:
Lead the Software Engineering Function defining the engineering strategy operating model governance and technology roadmap to deliver secure scalable and high-quality enterprise software solutions that support business growth and digital transformation.
Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the Software Engineering strategy and roadmap.
- Build lead and mentor high-performing Software Engineering teams.
- Establish and enforce engineering standards governance and best practices.
- Drive the adoption of Agile DevSecOps and modern software engineering methodologies.
- Oversee the development delivery and maintenance of enterprise applications.
- Collaborate closely with Product Architecture and Infrastructure teams to deliver business objectives.
- Manage engineering budgets vendor relationships and strategic technology initiatives.
- Coach mentor and develop engineering leaders to strengthen leadership capability across the organisation.
- 12 years of experience in Software Engineering.
- 5 years of experience leading enterprise Software Engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of modern software architecture and engineering best practices.
- Experience with cloud-native application development using Azure and/or AWS.
- Proven expertise in DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines and Agile at Scale methodologies.
- Solid understanding of engineering governance quality assurance and software delivery standards.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and engage executive-level stakeholders.
- Experience leading enterprise-wide technology transformation initiative
