Our client is seeking a Cost Accountant to provide accurate financial and operational reporting that supports effective business decision-making.
This role is responsible for assisting with financial performance management through cost analysis budgeting forecasting inventory management cash flow reporting and financial control. The successful candidate will work closely with the Finance Manager General Manager and operational teams to ensure the integrity of financial information and support continuous business improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of monthly management packs for the General Manager and management team
- Oversee and manage the responsibilities of the Cost Accountant function
- Perform monthly gross profit and margin analyses
- Assist the Finance Manager with product costing and cost control initiatives
- Prepare and maintain accurate weekly flash reports
- Prepare and manage cash flow forecasts
- Assist with annual budgets forecasts and financial planning activities
- Manage cycle counts and annual stock counts
- Monitor and report on inventory management and stock performance
- Ensure the accuracy of inventory balances reflected in management accounts
- Take ownership of the inventory section during annual external audits
- Liaise daily with operational management regarding business and production performance
- Maintain and distribute daily financial reports as required by the Finance Manager
- Implement monitor and maintain effective financial and operational controls
Requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Bachelors Degree in Finance Accounting Management Accounting or a related field
- Postgraduate Honours Degree will be advantageous
- CIMA qualification will be advantageous
- At least 35 years experience within a manufacturing finance environment
- Experience in management accounting cost accounting inventory management budgeting and forecasting
- Experience working with financial audits and financial reporting processes
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Working knowledge of ERP systems preferably Syspro
- Knowledge of inventory management stock control and costing methodologies
- Understanding of budgeting forecasting cash flow management and financial reporting
- Knowledge of manufacturing operations and associated financial processes
- Ability to implement and monitor financial and operational controls across the business
