Join us as a Railway Systems and RAMS Engineer in our Transportation Project Delivery team and you will have the opportunity to contribute the delivery of an exciting multi-disciplinary Transportation project. You will collaborate across all stages of the project lifecycle with the Preliminary Works Design Engineering Construction supervision and T&C teams and in close coordination with the D&B Contractor overseeing the design implementation performance verification and commissioning the communications control signalling traction power PI CCTV PA SCADA and PSDs works with focus on delivery and special emphasis on safety.

Your role

  • Review DB contractor proposals for compliance with project requirements regulations and stakeholder specifications and provide technical recommendations for the railway systems and compliance with operational requirements.
  • Coordinate the construction requirements with the O&M Consultant and Contractors with focus on maintaining safety and continuous operation on the Metro network. Represent the PMCM when dealing with Operation and Maintenance and Transport authorities.
  • Ensure operational requirements are integrated into design engineering and construction activities.
  • Lead RAMS activities across design construction testing and operational readiness stages. Review reliability maintainability availability and safety analyses for operational assets.
  • Coordinate operational readiness and maintainability reviews with consultants operators and maintainers.
  • Lead the implementation of the PSDs and their integration with the architectural context of the facilities PI Wayfinding signalling and control systems.
  • Review maintenance strategies spare parts planning and operational procedures.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the safety significance in the operation and maintenance systems preferably in a railway environment and always consider safety as the highest priority.
  • Participate in testing commissioning trial running and handover activities.
  • Support development of operational documentation training plans and asset acceptance processes.
  • Conduct technical reviews and ensure quality assurance throughout project execution.
  • Participate in coordination meetings to ensure alignment and integration of railway systems works with project requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Coordinate with the HSE Manager Head of Engineering and Head of Construction for incorporating the railway systems works within the reports.
  • Keep a proactive Safety aptitude and behaviour and contribute in positive to the a culture of safety.

About you

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Electronics Telecommunications Control & Instrumentation Mechatronics or Systems Engineering (or equivalent) with demonstrated experience in railway signalling telecommunications and/or platform screen door systems. Minimum 12 years of experience are required.
  • Professional membership with a recognized engineering institution is preferred.
  • Strong and demonstrable experience in railway signalling telecommunications and platform screen door systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of railway signalling systems including CBTC/ETCS principles interlocking train detection and route control.
  • In-depth understanding of signalling field equipment such as point machines track circuits axle counters and signals including typical failure modes.
  • Technical knowledge of railway telecom systems including fiber optic networks IP-based communication systems and radio systems (TETRA/LTE).
  • Strong experience and knowledge of PSD systems including implementation operation control logic and interfaces with Wayfinding and PI signalling and train systems.
  • Strong understanding of interfaces between signalling telecom PSD rolling stock and OCC systems.
  • Knowledge of SCADA and OCC systems for monitoring and control of railway operations.
  • Understanding of safety-critical system principles including fail-safe design redundancy and availability requirements.
  • Strong understanding of RAMS methodologies and systems assurance principles.
  • Experience supporting commissioning and operational transition activities.
  • Familiarity with rail operational environments and maintenance facilities. Experience in projects delivered on operating railway lines will be considered a plus.
  • Familiarity with international railway standards (EN IEC IEEE CENELEC).
  • Professional certifications such as IRSE License CEng or equivalent are preferred. Additional certifications in railway signalling systems telecom or CENELEC (EN 50129) standards are an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of inspection and testing techniques with regard to temporary and permanent railway works.
  • Experience coordinating with operators contractors consultants and government authorities. Excellent coordination and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong engineering judgement communication and technical reporting skills.
  • High level of organisation and commitment to your work.
  • Excellent personal organisational skills and team work.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy when completing inspection and examination testing paperwork.
  • Used to work in a fast-paced office environment combining operation construction supervision works and administration work.
  • Open to adapt to flexible working hours arrangements.
  • Experience working in the KSA or wider Middle East region is preferred.
