Job Summary
Responsible for the professional and cost-effective running of the Housekeeping department achieving high standards of cleanliness for guest rooms public areas and back of house areas within the hotel.
Overseeing the cleaning of guest rooms and public areas ensuring through inspection that standards of cleanliness and guest comfort are maintained in accordance with Hotel and Brand standards
To plan organise and keep an accurate record by room of all additional cleaning carried out to ensure maximum cleanliness and logical work patterns
Ensure that room cleaning productivity is monitored closely and maintained at the level set by the General Manager
To be responsible for the efficient running of the laundry and cost-effective use of all linen within the hotel taking inventory on a regular basis and investigating stock losses
To be responsible for the handling of guest laundry and lost property in accordance with Hotel Policy
To liaise with Front Office and Maintenance in regard to readiness of rooms with particular attention to guests special requirements and VIP rooms
To ensure the security of keys storerooms and guest bedrooms
To liaise with the General Manager regarding use of outside contractors for deep cleaning duties ensuring work is checked and standards achieved as stated in the service contract.
To ensure corridors and back of house areas are cleaned to standards specified in hotel policy
Adherence to Emergency Communication procedures
Strive to implement the Sofitel Vision and demonstrate active use of Sofitel Values.
Prepare weekly staffing schedules monitoring staff attendance and labour planning to meet with activity in the Hotel so as to maintain cost effectiveness.
Maintain an accurate and proper inventory of all stocks guest supplies linens etc to prevent pilferage or loss of any nature
Build develop and drive Housekeeping ambassadors to assist in achieving the Hotel deliverables and ensure the team are highly engaged. This includes responsible and sustainable recruitment training and development plans for all ambassadors open and honest feedback to ambassadors and engagement strategies.
As a member of the Senior Leadership Team role is responsible for ensuring their departments communication to broader hotel is clear concise and respectful. Role is also responsible for ensuring departments performance is aligned with the hotels strategic goals.
Role also plays an important part of forming and executing the hotels strategic plan with the General Manager and working with the Senior Leadership team to drive overall hotels performance. This also includes high level assistance during emergency situations and adherence to Emergency Communications procedures.
Provide required month end reports and data for General Manager and Finance. Ensure that the control and replenishment of the hotel room mini-bar is properly recorded and stock is controlled in line with Sofitel policies and procedures Prepare various monthly reports and submit them to the General Manager.
Accountable for the proper usage of all equipment and their periodical servicing to ensure efficient working conditions
Ensure that room cleaning productivity is well respected within the parameters given by the management. As well as maintaining a high standard in terms of cleanliness and tidiness.
Facilitate the smooth running of the departments through adequate purchase and supply of material and equipment. Adhere to the department budget through the purchase order system and inventory controls.
Be proactive in controlling costs being fully aware of forecasted business and targeted profitability whilst maintaining standards. Implement training programs for ambassadors conduct induction and skills training.
Ensure department policies and procedures are understood by all ambassadors and observed in tasks performed.
Handle or resolve all guest complaints and establish amicable relations with guests of the hotel and look after their needs and comforts at all times
Through close supervision recommend improvements in operation especially in the following aspects of developing a better service standard increase in revenue and reduction of cost
Any other reasonable request within your range of competence as required by your Manager.
Qualifications :
Previous Housekeeping management experience in a similar role is essential.
Experienced in the luxury market previous 5 Star experience essential.
Strong operational background with experience in the implementation and management of brand standards
Experience in the coaching and development of a professional management team.
Sound knowledge of Opera and Microsoft applications.
Proven experience with cost control including payroll expenses and forecasting
Well groomed & articulate in communication.
Fluent written and spoken English
Excellent time management organisational skills and ability to work autonomously.
