Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and organized General Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team. The General Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records performing account reconciliations supporting month-end closing and ensuring that financial transactions are properly recorded in accordance with hotel policies and accounting standards.
The ideal candidate will have previous accounting experience preferably within a 4- or 5-star hotel with strong attention to detail and a good understanding of hospitality accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger accounts.
- Record and verify daily financial transactions and journal entries.
- Perform monthly bank balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare and maintain supporting schedules for balance sheet accounts.
- Review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions when required.
- Monitor and reconcile intercompany accounts and internal transfers.
- Ensure proper recording and allocation of hotel revenues expenses and other financial transactions.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial reports and management reports.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounting records.
- Support the preparation of accruals prepayments provisions and adjusting entries.
- Ensure compliance with hotel financial policies accounting standards and internal controls.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of accounting records.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing required schedules and supporting documents.
- Work closely with other Finance team members and hotel departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assist the Financial Controller and Chief Accountant with ad hoc financial and accounting tasks.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- 24 years of relevant accounting experience preferably in a 4- or 5-star hotel.
- Good knowledge of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of reconciliations journal entries accruals and prepayments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced hotel environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity confidentiality and professionalism.
- Previous experience in a luxury or international hotel.
- Knowledge of hospitality revenue Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable and income audit processes.
- Professional accounting certification or qualification is an advantage.
