DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) with Informix Experience

We are looking for an experienced DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) with strong hands-on expertise in IBM DB2 and working knowledge of IBM Informix to manage maintain optimize and support business-critical database environments.

The role will be responsible for database installation configuration administration performance tuning backup and recovery high availability security monitoring troubleshooting and production support. The ideal candidate should have experience managing enterprise-scale high-availability database environments and be comfortable supporting both DB2 and Informix databases across production and non-production environments.

• Install configure administer upgrade patch and maintain IBM DB2 database environments across production development testing and disaster recovery environments.
  
• Perform day-to-day database administration including database creation configuration storage management user administration access management and database maintenance.
  
• Monitor database availability capacity utilization and overall health to ensure stable and reliable database operations.
  
• Manage database objects including tables indexes tablespaces schemas views triggers and stored procedures.
  
• Perform regular database health checks and proactively identify potential performance capacity and availability issues.
  
• Plan and execute DB2 version upgrades fix packs patches migrations and configuration changes while minimizing business disruption.
  
• Maintain database configuration parameters and ensure database environments follow organizational standards and best practices.
  

• Administer and support IBM Informix database environments alongside DB2 platforms.
  
• Perform Informix database installation configuration monitoring maintenance backup recovery and troubleshooting activities.
  
• Monitor Informix instances database services storage logs sessions and overall database performance.
  
• Troubleshoot database connectivity application performance locking resource utilization and other Informix-related operational issues.
  
• Support migrations upgrades patching and maintenance activities across Informix environments.
  
• Work with application and infrastructure teams to ensure the availability and performance of applications dependent on Informix databases.
  

• Monitor and analyze DB2 and Informix database performance identifying bottlenecks and implementing appropriate optimization measures.
  
• Perform SQL query analysis and tuning to improve database and application performance.
  
• Analyze indexes access plans database statistics memory utilization CPU utilization I/O locking and database workloads.
  
• Identify inefficient queries and collaborate with application and development teams to optimize SQL and database interactions.
  
• Perform capacity planning and provide recommendations for database growth storage memory and infrastructure requirements.
  

• Design implement manage and monitor database backup and recovery strategies for critical DB2 and Informix environments.
  
• Perform database restoration and recovery activities and regularly validate recovery procedures.
  
• Support and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery configurations ensuring critical databases meet defined availability and recovery requirements.
  
• Participate in disaster recovery exercises and database failover/failback testing.
  
• Ensure appropriate Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) requirements are supported for business-critical database services.
  

• Administer database users roles privileges authentication and access controls in accordance with organizational security policies.
  
• Ensure database environments comply with internal security audit governance and regulatory requirements.
  
• Support vulnerability remediation security patching database hardening and audit activities.
  
• Review database privileges and access levels and coordinate with security teams to address identified risks.
  

• Provide production database support for DB2 and Informix platforms including support for critical incidents and service interruptions.
  
• Investigate and resolve database incidents involving performance degradation connectivity failures locking deadlocks storage replication backup failures and database availability.
  
• Perform root cause analysis for recurring database incidents and implement permanent corrective and preventive measures.
  
• Analyze database and system logs to identify underlying technical issues.
  
• Work closely with application infrastructure middleware storage network security and development teams to troubleshoot complex production issues.
  
• Coordinate with technology vendors and product support teams for critical or product-specific database problems.
  
• Participate in on-call and 24/7 production support rotations where required.
  

• Plan and execute database changes in accordance with established change and release management processes.
  
• Maintain comprehensive documentation covering database architecture configurations operational procedures backup/recovery processes DR procedures and troubleshooting guidelines.
  
• Develop and maintain database administration scripts and automation for recurring monitoring and maintenance activities.
  
• Maintain database inventory and configuration information across production and non-production environments.
  
• Provide technical guidance and database best practices to application development and infrastructure teams.
