Commissioning Engineer

Job Description

Leap29 are supporting a leading data centre client near Oslo who are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a major hyperscale data centre programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in the testing validation and handover of critical mechanical electrical and control systems ensuring facilities are delivered safely efficiently and in line with client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the commissioning and startup of mission-critical data centre infrastructure.
• Review commissioning plans procedures and test scripts for mechanical electrical and control systems.
• Coordinate commissioning activities with contractors vendors consultants and client teams.
• Witness and document pre-functional functional and integrated systems testing (IST).
• Verify performance of critical systems including UPS generators switchgear HVAC chilled water fire protection and BMS/EPMS systems.
• Track commissioning progress manage punch lists and support issue resolution.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications quality standards and safety requirements.
• Participate in FATs SATs and system acceptance activities.
• Prepare commissioning reports and support final handover to operations teams.
• Assist with troubleshooting and root-cause analysis during testing and startup phases.

Requirements

• Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Mechanical Building Services or a related Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 5 years experience in commissioning testing startup or operations within mission-critical industrial energy pharmaceutical or data centre environments.
• Strong understanding of electrical and/or mechanical building systems.
• Experience with commissioning processes documentation and quality management systems.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings specifications and technical procedures.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong focus on safety quality and attention to detail.

Desirable Experience

• Previous data centre or mission-critical facility experience.
• Experience commissioning UPS systems generators switchgear HVAC chilled water BMS or EPMS systems.
• Familiarity with integrated systems testing (IST) and Level 15 commissioning processes.
• Background in oil & gas power generation pharmaceutical semiconductor or large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of commissioning standards and best practices within hyperscale environments.
