Job Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a central repository of key controls across all business processes and lead the assessment of control design and effectiveness.
- Develop and document internal control policies and procedures and guide process owners in embedding controls into daily operations.
- Plan and oversee the monitoring and testing of controls call-overs and prepayment audits; identify control weaknesses and drive corrective actions to resolution.
- Coordinate Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) activities and support compliance with Financial Reporting Council (FRC) requirements.
- Strengthen oversight of financial credit and technology controls working with Finance Technology and the relevant control owners.
- Drive standardisation of SOPs and control standards across departments in line with the companys risk appetite.
- Review all SOPs and develop or supervise the development of end-to-end process flows and process maps for every business process; maintain the central library of process maps and use it to identify gaps control weaknesses and optimisation opportunities for resolution.
- Report control deficiencies exceptions and risk exposures to the COO Executive Management and the Board and provide regular updates on the control environment.
- Collaborate with Risk Management Compliance Internal Audit and Legal and support fraud risk management and investigations.
- Conduct training and awareness to foster a culture of compliance and control consciousness across the business.
- Supervise and develop the Internal Control Officer and manage the functions growth over time.
Qualifications Skills and Experience
- A first degree or its equivalent
- Minimum of 7 yearsstrong demonstrable experience in internal control financial control credit control and technology control.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g. ICAN/ACCA CIA CISA or equivalent) is an advantage.
- Sound understanding of ICFR the three lines of defence model and regulatory expectations for the insurance sector.
- Proven ability to design controls lead control testing and manage remediation to closure.
- Strong analytical reporting stakeholder-management and leadership skills.
