We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the team in Delft.
We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineeringrole for ourSpace & Sciencebusiness unit inDelft the Netherlands to work on the software development for our DataProcessing and Analysis systems and services.
One of our teams within theSpace & Sciencebusinessunit is working on delivering solutions that facilitate automated processing ofEarth Observation (EO) data and provide both automated and interactiveanalysis of such data. For example we provide an interactive environment forscientific end-users to develop and test their own data processors. Similarlywe deliver quality control systems for various missions such asBiomassSentinel-1andSentinel-5Pthat monitor satellite instrument performanceand perform validation (for example: toolchains are also used for public services that allow scientists toeasily retrieve and analyze EO data especially data concerned with theatmospheric composition (for example:NO2 over europe( we are looking for people who enjoy working onstate of the art (open-source) technologies and have in-depth knowledge of thesoftware engineeringdomain. You will join a team of 5-7 team members that are looking forward to working with you!

Senior Software Engineer
Main responsibilities
- Software design and development within various projects and for the common toolstack.
- Together with the software architect you are the lead engineer responsible for one or more projects in the Earth Observation Domain.
- You can come up with designs of new solutions and know when to re-use existing ones.
- Take ownership of the software development process (estimation scope management release cycle).
- Lead team-members within the projects.
- Provide support to (scientific) end-users.
Requirements
You meet the following requirements:
- You have completed an academic education inComputer Science Informatics or another relevant degree or alternatively you have a well-established track record in software engineering and have experience with the complete software engineering lifecycle.
- At least 7 years of experiencewith coding inPython and at least one more language like C C or Java.
- You can provide architectural solutions and know when to use OO or alternatives.
- Experience working withLinux(including system administration tasks).
- Experience with version management systems/source control (git) continuous integration (Jenkins/Gitlab) project management tools (Redmine) virtualization (VMs) and containerization (Docker).
- You are fluent in written and spoken English.
Its an advantage if you:
- Experience withNix/NixOSor declarative programming.
- Knowledge ofDjangoJupyterlabOpenstack.
- Experience withfront-end developmentand/orscientific visualisation.
