Junior Accountant

About the Company

Our client is a prominent importer distributor and marketer of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).They specialize in distributing personal care household pharmaceutical and food products to supermarkets wholesalers and retailers across the country.

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to support the finance team in day-to-day accounting operations. The ideal candidate will assist in maintaining accurate financial records preparing reports and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and maintenance of financial records including journals ledgers and reconciliations

• Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and in a timely manner

• Perform bank reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items

• Support monthly quarterly and annual financial closing processes

• Assist in preparing financial reports and management accounts

• Ensure proper filing and documentation of financial records

• Support tax compliance processes including VAT and statutory filings

• Assist in audits by providing required documentation and schedules

• Monitor expenses and ensure adherence to company policies

• Perform any other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager

Qualifications & Requirements

• CPA II (or equivalent qualification) required

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field is an added advantage

• 12 years experience in an accounting or finance role

• Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g. QuickBooks Sage or similar)

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• High level of integrity and professionalism
