A leading company in the energy sector in Kenya is seeking a strategic and hands-on IT Manager to oversee technology infrastructure digital transformation initiatives and cybersecurity frameworks. The successful candidate will align IT strategies with business goals ensuring seamless downstream operationsfrom supply chain and depot management to retail automation and corporate functions. The role will lead a high-performing team to maintain 24/7 system availability in a high-stakes operational environment.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Strategic Leadership & Digital Transformation
Develop and implement an IT roadmap that supports business growth across the East African market.
Lead digital transformation projects including integration of IoT solutions in operational management and mobile payment technologies at retail outlets.
Manage the annual IT budget (CAPEX and OPEX) ensuring optimal ROI on technology investments.
B. Infrastructure & Operations Management
Oversee administration and optimization of ERP systems (e.g. SAP Oracle or Navision) within a manufacturing or distribution environment.
Ensure high availability of critical infrastructure including servers cloud services (Azure/AWS) and connectivity across remote operational sites.
Manage retail automation systems including forecourt controllers and Point of Sale (POS) platforms ensuring accurate operational and sales reporting.
C. Cybersecurity & Compliance
Implement robust cybersecurity frameworks to protect operational systems and corporate data.
Ensure compliance with the Kenya Data Protection Act (2019) and relevant industry standards.
Develop and regularly test Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Plans (BCP/DRP).
D. Vendor & Stakeholder Management
Manage relationships with third-party technology providers telecom partners and software consultants.
Liaise with regulatory and industry bodies regarding technology compliance and reporting requirements.
3. Technical Competencies
ERP Expertise: Proven experience managing ERP platforms within manufacturing logistics or distribution environments.
Network Engineering: Strong understanding of SD-WAN VPNs and industrial networking environments.
Data Analytics: Proficiency in PowerBI or Tableau for operational and business reporting.
Cloud Architecture: Experience managing and migrating hybrid cloud environments.

4. Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
Masters degree or MBA is an added advantage.
Professional Certifications
CISM/CISSP (Cybersecurity)
PMP/PRINCE2 (Project Management)
ITIL (Service Management)
Experience
Minimum 810 years of IT experience with at least 4 years in a senior management role.
Experience in the energy manufacturing logistics or FMCG sectors is highly preferred.
Experience with Forecourt Management Systems is an added advantage.
5. Soft Skills
Crisis Management: Ability to remain calm and decisive during critical system outages.
Communication: Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and executive leadership.
Integrity: High ethical standards and strong governance mindset.
