WI - RN - Medical Surgical at East Madison Hospital 3rd Floor - Nights

Nurses working on the Inpatient Medical Surgical Unit at East Madison Hospital will have the opportunity to provide care to both medical and surgical patients. High volume elective surgical admissions will be orthopedic patients including joint replacement spine surgery and both upper extremity and lower extremity procedures. A smaller volume of the elective surgical patients will come from Neurosurgery spine Urology General Surgery Endocrine and Bariatrics. In addition to the surgical population nurses will care for a variety of medical patients including those with pneumonia sepsis COPD CHF and other acute and chronic medical conditions. The medical/surgical unit offers inpatient dialysis with a two chair dialysis suite located on the unit. Telemetry monitoring can be provided for all patients and a limited number of IMC status patients will be cared for at East Madison Hospital.This unit offers motivated nursing staff the opportunity to not only work in a new physical environment but will give them the chance to expand their skills beyond that of a single specialty area of nursing practice. We are seeking a Registered Nurse to: Help provide highquality patientcentered care in a professional environment that fosters and values collaboration respect and diversity. Work in a collaborative environment surrounded by state of the art technology evidencebased practice and a strong interdisciplinary team. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and lead practice changes. Collaborate in the development execution and evaluation of the multidisciplinary plan of care. Minimum Requirements:Facility Requirement: Traveler must have permanent address outside 50 mile radius of Madison (permanent address must be included in travelers profile including resume Medefis portal onboarding documents). Experience:Traveler must have completed two years of acute care experience within last 3 years. Traveler must have experience in an Academic Level 1 Trauma center or similar size hospital. Traveler must have successfully completed traveler assignment (13 weeks). Education: Associate degree in Nursing. Licensure and Certification: Traveler must have WI nursing license or compact license from their permanent address state. BLS must be certified through American Heart Association ONLY Reference Needs 2 completed references from recent work environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only for work performed in the last two years). Telemetry Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. Traveler will be required to pass UW Health Telemetry test prior to being cleared to start (not for clinic positions). UW Health Recruitment will send instructions to traveler 23 weeks prior to start date. Floating Travelers are the first to float to floors working with children up to 1 year of age. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units depending on the current staffing needs. During the traveler s assignment if the primary unit no longer has a need shifts will be reassigned to another unit in order to complete contract.
