The Technical Integration Lead working under the guidance of the Product Development Director is responsible for driving all data migration, conversion and integration activities pertaining to the build and release of a replacement Student Information System (New SIS).
The legacy Student Information System consists of a mainframe with a combined web interface, served primarily by batch processing. The University's legacy SIS is a mission critical, enterprise-wide application that has successfully served the University for more than 20 years. New SIS provides for a modern, engaging user experience for students and administrators that can scale to meet the ongoing needs of the University. New SIS leverages the Python-Django REST framework, fronted by Angular2 single page web apps to enable a microservice based architecture that is resident in the cloud. Replacing the legacy SIS will be completed with a phased approach whereby the legacy SIS and the New SIS will operate in parallel, however, with different sets of functionality. As new functionality is released, the similar capability in the legacy SIS will be replaced by New SIS. The user experience will remain seamless via deep linking between the New and legacy SIS applications.
Given the nature of the data, it's critical that data displayed in either system be accurate and that the integrity of the data be maintained throughout the integration, migration and conversion processes. Significant progress on this project has been achieved so far and this role is needed to accelerate the rigorous testing, validation, and migration of critical data. This effort is complex and is managed as a top priority project, driven by a defined schedule, and comprising multiple technology teams, The Office of the Registrar, Student Financial Services and various schools and institutions. As such, coordination and the ability to work collaboratively with others is crucial and scrutiny of processes and outcomes should be expected.
As technical lead, you are required to collaborate with key stakeholders to execute a comprehensive, repeatable and iterative data migration and integration process. A well-defined process allows for continuous data cleansing, ensures the integrity of the data in the new replacement system and is based upon approved sponsor's requirements. Inherent in the requisite duties of this role will be to: establish a means to trace all changes, defects, and issues; account for the various feeds and integrations; comply with existing Security/Risk guidance and adopt best practices; and ensure the integrity of the final product.
The role is technical and hands-on in nature and requires well rounded skills to address complex business and technical problems. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to leading analysis, documenting, redesign, development, implementation activities, and automating and driving standardization. Success criteria will focus on the efficacy of the process and its design, with an emphasis on reusability, scalability, optimization, and security. The person in this role will work closely with data modelers, business analysts, technical architects, ETL developers, and integration specialists and will personally complete tasks as needed, such as SQL programming, to accelerate the completion of activities.
