TITLE: Sr. Network Engineer

DURATION: 3 6month CTH

LOCATION: Buena Park CA (Onsite two days a week. Only local candidates prefer LA or Orange County residents.) Need local DL

    MUST HAVES:

    1. 1020 years of handson experience configuring Cisco routers/switches (ASA for now). Nexus 9K experience
    2. BGP/EIGRP protocol experience.
    3. Going from an OTV to VXLAN environment.
    4. Someone who takes the bull by the horns and makes things happen.
    5. Small team team of 2 maybe 3 network engineers. Must wear multiple hats as a SME on routers/switches.
    6. Tenured candidates only (3 years as an FTE with a company).
    7. Any experience with SASE is a plus

    JOB DESCRIPTION: The Senior Network Engineer oversees and provides the installation maintenance support and enhancements to the enterprise (OPS) Orora Packaging Solutions Network infrastructure. This position supports the functions which contribute to the continued operation of OPSs Information Technologies (IT) department including network design hardware deployment network security remote facility deployment and maintenance carrier management purchase recommendations and research capacity planning performance analysis monitoring documentation and reporting.

    Primary Duties and Resposibilities

    • Performs all tasks with a customercentric focus weighing individual customer (internal and external) needs with the overall needs of the business.
    • Design and deploy functional networks (LAN WLAN WAN)
    • Configure and install software servers routers and other network devices
    • Monitor network performance and integrity
    • Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud (AWS and Azure) and local infrastructure
    • Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
    • Mentor team members on technical issues
    • Create oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
    • Maintain complete technical documentation
    • Suggest improvements to network performance capacity and scalability
    • Works with other team members in assessing requirements and developing action plans for accomplishing company goals through appropriate technical solutions.
    • Monitors Network performance diagnoses network issues and performs emergency and scheduled maintenance.
    • Maintains monitors and ensures all switches routers and other applicable devices and applications are properly configured utilized and maintained with latest firmware/software revisions.
    • Maintains WAN circuit IDs and contacts; troubleshoot all Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) links and devices.
    • Optimizes the network traffic routes and controls network broadcast storms.
    • Administers Internet Protocol (IP) address schemes and their assignment to network equipment.
    • Uses a variety of software/hardware monitoring/diagnostic tools and responds to network alarms network degradation and failures by diagnosing and then initiating network recovery process.
    • Improve network design by performing router scripting and filtering to identify/manage network bottlenecks and changing network traffic.
    • Recommends/provides network upgrade and expansion solutions.
    • Clearly communicates and coordinates with appropriate personnel in advance of any issues changes network upgrades and/or maintenance which may affect operations. This includes enterprise impacting upgrades microcode changes new equipment deployments and sunsetting legacy hardware/software.
    • Benchmarks evaluates and makes recommendations for the selection of network management software and hardware products.
    • Documents responds to resolves and follows up on reported issues through the trouble ticketing system.
    • Proposes and implements system enhancements. Updates skills as changes occur in the hardware/software infrastructure.
    • Develops and maintains operational documentation standards technical specifications and test plans.
    • Keeps the Information Technology staff and customers informed of the status and resolution of issues; updates the Service Desk software with resolutions and status.
    • Adheres to organization IT and change/release management policy and procedures and service level agreements.
    • Develops and participates in disaster recovery planning and business continuity practices for Network management.
    • Performs all jobrelated responsibilities with minimal management direction and guidance.
    • Contributes to the development of new standards and/or the modification of existing standards.
    • Position may require travel between various OPS divisions.
    • Position may require participating in meetings outside of normal business hours including occasional evenings and/or weekends.
    • Position requires being available after hours in the event of a system outage or similar event.
    • Performs other duties and/ or responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or other related field or equivalent work experience

    Additional Plus Skills

    o Voice/Telco

    • Experience with implementing and supporting PBX VOIP voicemail wireless phone integration data networking equipment cabling management and support
    • Experience and knowledge with Cisco VOIP Shortel Nortel Option 11 60 80 BCM and Norstar solutions
    • Knowledge and experience with Call Accounting software ACD IVR and Auto Attendant applications
    • Experience and familiarity with the design installation turnup troubleshooting and support of voice circuits
    • Experience and familiarity communicating with and supporting customers and vendors dealing with voice contracts agreements and billing

    o Server

    • Maintains Active Directory users and groups Exchange email accounts Internet access remote access and application and file system security. This includes password maintenance new user logon and setup file access permissions and data protection procedures.
    • Planning configuring implementing and maintaining the Active Directory Domain infrastructure including building maintaining upgrading and supporting Domain Controllers.
    • Monitors server and storage performance diagnoses server issues and performs emergency and scheduled maintenance.
    • Knowledge and experience with Exchange Server Antivirus software System monitoring software HP servers (Physical / Blade) and domain migrations/upgrades
    • Good working knowledge of LAN/WAN infrastructure setups switches routers firewalls servers VPN and internet/intranet security architecture and applications
    • Maintains application/system portfolio benchmarking evaluating and making recommendations for the selection of server and storage management software and hardware products.
    • Monitors server and storage performance diagnoses server issues and performs emergency and scheduled maintenance.
