Job Description

  • Support the analysis of the implementation of activities previously carried out, identify strengths and weaknesses, and identify bottlenecks;
  • Support the planning and updating of activities adapted to the context (zero dose strategy, under-vaccinated, urban and peri-urban strategy, etc.) to improve the success of communication and social mobilization activities in favor of vaccination with an emphasis on the following points :
    • Propose communication strategies specific to the district context (individual, small groups, masses, etc.) for behavior change using various communication channels (community, radio, social mobilization, etc.) to ensure coverage of all children targeted by routine EPI, particularly the hardest-to-reach children and disadvantaged children;
    • Strategies for mobilizing local partners (local authorities, religious leaders, teachers, artists, civil society, others) to facilitate the dissemination of messages on vaccination;
    • Propose the monitoring-evaluation strategy for the implementation of the communication plan and the tools necessary for monitoring-evaluation of routine activities, mass campaigns and post-introduction of new vaccines;
  • Support districts in monitoring and coordinating CSO interventions in relation to demand generation activities;
  • Support districts in mobilizing and guiding partner networks at the national, district and community levels (religious groups, administrative groups at all levels, teachers, artists, civil society, etc.) on the objectives of the country program in order to ensure their active participation in the implementation of vaccination and community mobilization activities;
  • Support districts in preparing SBC activities in emergency situations or responding to VPD (Vaccine Preventable Diseases) epidemics.

  • A degree in social sciences (sociology, economics, political science, public policies, development), psychology, literature, education; Geography, Journalism, Communication or any other relevant technical field.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in social communication; experience working with NGOs and development projects;
  • Experience working on epidemic response at the national coordination level
  • Good interpersonal and networking skills; good writing and communication skills, with good audience prioritization; Be creative, innovative and open to ideas; Good command of Office tools.
  • A mastery of French and good knowledge of English. Mastery of Kirundi would be an asset.
