Reports to: Manager Community & Cultural DevelopmentDirect Reports:Gallery Officer Community & Cultural Development OfficerThe Place and Cultural Development Coordinator will play a pivotal role in shaping the cultural landscape of the Shire of Carnarvon. This multifaceted position involves overseeing the operations of the Art Gallery and Civic Centre managing the implementation of the Reconciliation Action Plan and driving community cultural and placemaking initiatives. You will work collaboratively with internal departments community stakeholders and external partners to create a vibrant and inclusive cultural environment that reflects the diversity and uniqueness of Carnarvon.Key responsibilities of the role include:Demonstrate successful leadership through the application of the Shires core values by promoting a work culture of sustainability quality improvement efficiency and excellent customer service that corresponds to our Code of Conduct and Customer Service Charter. A commitment to a safe work environment and WHS legislation policy and processes.Ensure compliance with the Local Government Act (WA) 1995 and any relevant legislation.Advise and coordinate a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of programs activities and events that align with the evolving needs and priorities of the community in accordance with Councils direction. Oversee the daytoday operations of the Art Gallery and Civic Centre including planning and promoting exhibitions and touring shows.Collaborate with local and regional artists to curate engaging and diverse exhibitions programs and events that resonate with the community.Develop implement and deliver community development programs events and initiatives that align with the Shires Strategic Community Plan and Corporate Business Plan. Collaborate with local organisations schools and community groups to drive cultural and social development initiatives.Identify funding opportunities and establish partnerships to support projects and events.Lead placemaking efforts to enhance public spaces and create welcoming environments for residents and visitors.Lead the implementation of the Shires Reconciliation Action Plan working towards fostering positive relationships and partnerships with Yinggarda and Baiyungu people. Monitor and report on the progress of RAP initiatives. Prepare comprehensive reports highlighting key outcomes lessons learned and recommendations for continuous improvement.Identify opportunities for capacity building within the community providing support and resources to individuals community groups and organisations. Support the administration of the Community Growth Fund. Prepare reports and acquittal forms to document program outcomes and financial accountabilities.Evaluate the effectiveness of programs activities and events making recommendations for continuous improvement.Work Health & Safety ResponsibilitiesFully understand their WHS responsibilities relevant legislation policy guidelines and standards; and regularly update their knowledge. Proactively recognise and identify hazards investigate accidents and near misses implement controls and prevention programmes provide and maintain workplaces plant and systems of work that do not expose employees to hazards. Ensure safe work practices and procedures are documented understood implemented and are being followed by employees. Ensure that Safety & Health Representatives reporting to them are able to carry out their legislated functions. Provide and enforce the use of adequate protective clothing and equipment where it is not practicable to avoid the presence of hazards in the workplace. Attend the WHS Committee meeting either as a member or rostered as an invited guest.Lead a continuous improvement culture of safety where best practice initiatives are entrenched in daily business activities. Essential Criteria:Highly developed ability to uphold a valuesbased approach in the workplace. Relevant tertiary qualification in arts cultural development community development and/or a minimum 2 years experience in a similar role. Demonstrated ability in the planning promotion and delivery of high quality creative and innovative of programs and events.Flexibility to work rostered hours according to operational requirements including some weekend work.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to organise and facilitate community consultations and workshops.Proficient in using project management tools software and office productivity applications.Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.Desirable Criteria:Knowledge of the traditional owners in the Shire of Carnarvon region.Previous experience in Local Government.
