Business Support OfficerPosition Number:32Department:Development & Community Level: 4Award:May be covered under Local Government Officers WA AwardRemuneration: $91467.33 (prorata for parttime) inclusive of salary superannuation housing and district allowances (if eligible) is available to the successful candidate depending on experience skills and qualifications. Reports to: May report to Manager Regulatory Services Manager Tourism & Economic Development Manager Community & Cultural DevelopmentThe Business Support Officer supports the Development and Regulatory Services Team with the provision of regulatory and enforcement services. As the Business Support Officer you are required to provide high level administrative support to the officers and the programs within the Development Portfolio that support the Shire of Carnarvon to deliver the strategic outcomes in line with the Strategic Community Plan and the Corporate Business Plan. Key responsibilities of the role include:Demonstrate successful leadership through the application of the Shires core values by promoting a work culture of sustainability quality improvement efficiency and excellent customer service that corresponds to our Code of Conduct and Customer Service Charter. A commitment to a safe work environment and WHS legislation policy and processes.Ensure compliance with the Local Government Act (WA) 1995 and any relevant legislation.Assist in compliance matters by processing infringement notices and actively pursuing outstanding debt. Provide input to the review and impact of changes in Legislation Codes of Practice Shire Policies and Operational Procedures. Work in collaboration with and assist the team to achieve business units goals work requests meet demands and Shire priorities. Provide timely and accurate information in response to internal and external enquiries. Work with relevant officers to maintain accurate accessible and up to date information on the Shire website.Contribute fully to the development of a team environment which actively promotes resources knowledge and information sharing and that exercises excellence in internal and external customer services.Provide administrative support to the Development Team including but not limited to the preparation of reports documents correspondence filing and records management. Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position. As well as with the WA WHS Act 2020 WHS (General) Regulations 2022 all other relevant Regulations Codes of Practice and Australian StandardsAs far as reasonably possible comply with instructions given by their employer or an authorised person in the interests of safety and health and in accordance with the WHS Act.Must report to their manager supervisor WHS Representative PC&S and/or other relevant contact person work related injuries near misses and any hazards at the workplace that they cannot correct themselves.Must use store and maintain personal protective equipment as properly instructed and not damage or misuse any equipment or facilities provided in the interests of safety and health.Participate in and where possible provide leadership for a continuous improvement culture of safety where best practice initiatives are entrenched in daily business activities.Essential Criteria:Highly developed ability to uphold a valuesbased approach in the workplace. Highly effective communication skills (written and verbal) including ability to prepare initial reports letters emails and assist with applications.Previous relevant experience with demonstrated communication and strong customer service skills in the provision of information in person email telephone and other standard business correspondence.Developed knowledge of the relevant legislation policies standards regulations and procedures supporting the business practices relevant to the area of work.High level of organisational skills to consistently approach workload in a proactive manner to ensure timelines and standards are met with attention to detail. Desirable Criteria:Previous experience in Local Government.Experience in Synergy. Previous experience in a similar role.Licenses Registrations Memberships or Qualifications required of the role:Current Western Australia Drivers License.Preemployment screening required for this role: National Police Clearance Less than 6 months oldPreemployment Medical ScreeningAlcohol and Other Drug screeningRemuneration and Benefits:The successful applicant will join the Development & Community Team with a starting salary from $72908.16 per annum plus allowances (if eligible) and superannuation.
