Service Engineer

pTo service with limited commission and install if competent fire alarm and associated systems in line with the current regulations liaising with the service department to ensure best practice and the most cost effective solution To complete and return all company documentation and certification to comply with the companys systems and procedures To work as a team with colleagues and the senior engineer to build on the companys reputation in quality and customer service phPrincipal Responsibilities hp Carry out scheduled routine servicing in a timely efficient and cost effective manner in line with the Companys quality standards pulliCarry out all other necessary works required at customer premises in accordance with the Companys quality standardsliululliGive prompt and efficient attention to emergency call outs received during working hours including outside of working hours if duty engineerliululliSupport the rota schedule as required to maintain a reliable and responsive out of hours service for customersliululliEffectively communicate with customers to ensure a good understanding of system and site status particularly system defects that affect its correct functionliululliLiaise with service administrators to ensure service commitments are metliululliPlan own work including routine servicemaintenance visits emergency call out requirements and remedial repairs and minor additions to existing installations in line with service administration guidanceliululliEnsure legible and timely completion of all company paperwork in line with Company requirementsliululliBe responsible for the management and security of own equipment stock in an efficient and economical manner by determining stock levels in relation to work activities and ordering stock items as and when appropriateliululliOperate in accordance with the Company Handbook and all Company and customers quality standards and health and safety requirementsliululliPass on any potential leads for further business to the relevant Sales EngineerliululliDiscuss any suggestions for systemservice improvement with the Senior EngineerliululliAttend training sessions identified by required test equipment liululliDemonstrates a logical approach to system fault diagnosis and rectificationliululliUnderstands different types of cable containment systemsliululliDeal with customers endusers construction personnel and inhouse staff in a professional mannerliululliVerbal and written communicationliulpstrongTechnical knowledge strongpulliFull and detailed understanding of BS Pt Completed Units and of BFPSA Training liululliUnderstands the basic building service systems eg air conditioning systems with a view to interfacing with them liululliHas a comprehensive understanding of the causes and cures of fire alarm problems including an ability to recommend changes to practices and processes that may cause false alarms as well as changes to the fire detection and alarm system liululliBasic Electrical Safety training (ECA)liululliManufacturers training with a minimum requirement of Notifier and Gent equipment in respect of servicing liululliManufacturers Training in all other equipment as required This may include VESDA Radio Fire Suppression and will be decided by the Engineering manager based on regional needs Note Specific product training will be arranged within the first months of employment if necessary to meet the minimum parametersliulpstrongStandards strongpulliBS Pt liululliBS (if involved in installation work) liululliBS where required liululliTo operate business processes within the framework of BN EN ISO and LPSstrong Documentation strong liululliAble to read prepared plans and technical sketches service and repair systems in accordance with information provided and record changes to and the location of equipment on the installation drawings and the O & M manual liululliIdentifies and reports the requirement for new and additional works to the Senior Engineer liululliAccurately completes appropriate paperwork in line with Company requirements liululliCalculates the incidence of false alarms and prepares advice for the customer on the implications of these incidents liulpstrongHealth and Safety strongpulliHas completed and fully complies with the necessary H & S training Understanding Safety liululliFully
