About the Role

Designation : Senior Manager Design Research & Consumer Insights

Role Overview :

Design research helps the development team continuously build understanding and empathy through observation prototyping possible solutions and reflecting on the feedback from potential users themselves. Learning about the needs of users allows us to create better products and solutions.

As a Design Research Lead you will help scope shape design and deliver initiatives within the Innovation portfolio. The candidate will be able to clearly articulate user and customer needs leveraging research and data and turn insights into highfidelity designs and prototypes. This role will also include utilizing a facilitative leadership style with many individuals and teams including Design Research Product and Technology. The right candidate will build an understanding and appreciation for a user/customercentric point of view over time while managing the endtoend design production cycle from planning and requirements to discovery design and testing.

Major Deliverables / Tasks :

  1. Conduct research and behavioral interviews to discover user problems/needs.

Preparing conducting and participating in a variety of research approaches and opportunities including both primary and secondary research. Shadow users to observe what they experience.

Reviewing primary research and analyzing and synthesizing research data for businesses and designers.

  1. Participating in brainstorming concept development and strategy sessions.
  • Contribute to the creation of visions for innovation that rationalize strategy and impact to our business and users.
  • Facilitates brainstorming and design sessions to help diverse teams drive towards decisions and advance bestinclass design practices and principles through offering mentorship and training to other design team members.
  • Advocate for the users perspective when collaborating with the Agile Design Teams/ COEs including Product Managers other Industrial Designers and Engineers to plan roadmaps gather requirements and structure the work.
  • Identify raise and evangelize new userled strategies and opportunities with design leaders and within the development teams that have business impact and rationale.
  1. Communicate expectations and provide realtime feedback to Design team members on standards of quality through creative direction and critique and provide perspectives with both sensitivity and rationality. Create high quality design deliverables and artifacts including but not limited to strategy presentations customer journeys future state/art of the possible experiences; figma boards prototypes etc. Educate socialize and evangelize blueprints across teams.
  1. Design and direct solutions involving endtoend digital experiences for relevant Brand products channels and platforms using 3D visualization techniques on Mixed reality and Virtual Reality Technologies.
  1. Collaborate with cocreators to brainstorm and test different approaches/ ideas. The purpose is to take a product idea and iterate to make gradual improvements based on feedback. Also to ensure potential users understand what you are asking them to do.
  • Run usability tests on an existing service to identify challenges when completing tasks.
  • Run usability tests on high fidelity prototypes to identify potential usability issues.
  • Conduct intercept testing with a few different concepts and observe the participants reactions.
  • Conduct preference tests to figure out the pros and cons of several concepts.
  • Focus on testing with low fidelity prototypes to test various hypotheses.
  • Structure the solutions through conducting techniques such as card sorting exercise; Intercept test on specific elements of the product.

Required Qualifications Capabilities and Skills

  • Bachelors degree in engineering/ Design and a Masters in relevant design discipline (e.g. Interaction Design Product Design User Experience Design) or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of experience leading a program of work through full product development cycles in discovery concepting prototypes specifications and enablement.
  • Experience using and leading Design Thinking and Humancentered design methods with cross functional teams and experience working in agile design environments.
  • Knowledge of design tools such as the Adobe suite Figma Blender and SolidWorks
  • Has deep experience in service design consumer products & services design and prototype design and expertise in Interaction Design and strength in Information Architecture; Intermediate proficiency in adjacent skills such as User Research UX Writing Prototyping and Service Design
  • Can guide self and others in both planning and structuring the work and executing on expected levels of quality.
  • Prior work involves leading design teams (with other Designers UX Researchers and Content Designers) and crossfunctional collaboration with Product Managers and Engineering leads.
  • Effective facilitation skills and experience in design thinking employing a variety of methods and techniques to run complex designled workshops.

  • Advocate for Inclusive Design practices
  • Comfortable with structuring and planning design work for crossfunctional teams
  • Able to show how ones understanding of technical constraints and opportunities informed design solutions.
  • Previous work for customer segments; and or lifestyle goods (e.g. consumer and smart wearables) and in design/experience design of physical products
