Senior AWS Platform Architect

Location: Hybrid 23 days per week in Cheltenham

Permanent

Please note:

This role requires SC clearance and in future will require DV clearance. Active SC or DV is not required (although it is highly desirable) but you must be eligible to pass SC and DV clearance to be considered.

About the role:

As aSenior AWS Cloud Architect you will be responsible for designing and providing the technical governance over the delivery of significant workloads on the cloud. You will define the infrastructure network and security design along with the design of platform tooling services (based upon cloud managed services open source or commercial products). You will set the technical standards that define what good looks like for all services and put checks in place to ensure compliance.

Although a technical background and deep technical knowledge is required this position is not handson.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing and providing the technical governance over the delivery of significant workloads on the cloud
  • Defining the infrastructure network and security design
  • Designing platform tooling services based upon cloud managed services open source or commercial products
  • Setting the technical standards that define what good looks like for all services and put checks in place to ensure their compliance.
  • Leading crossfunctional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and to the satisfaction of the customer
  • Defining technical direction and strategy of teams and systems
  • Designing complex multitenant systems aligned to bestpractice
  • Provide thought leadership to colleagues and customers

Technical Skills:

  • Thorough understanding of how to design and build secure scalable and resilient platforms on AWS
  • Thorough understanding of complex requirements and how to architect appropriate and scalable Cloud solutions
  • Experience architecting complex systems or platforms to enable them to run seamlessly at scale
  • Experience designing landing zones and working in a landing zone environment
  • Experience designing complex multitenant platforms and the ability to assess tradeoffs with design options
  • Thorough understanding of the key security risks that are present when using AWS and how these can be prevented detected and remediated
  • Hands on experience of designing and delivering workloads using a wide range of AWS services
  • Proven technical leadership across several projects
  • Hands on experience of working with key AWS security services
  • Ability to advise on infrastructure as code structure and modularisation
  • Can devise an approach to delivering a Cloud Security Model
  • Defines policy and process for Change Management and Version Control
