GovFirst is currently seeking a Network Engineer to support the Department of State (DOS) by providing project design and implementation support to the DOS Wi-Fi program.
This position is located in Washington D.C.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Develop detailed project quotes
- Assess new embassy and consulate site requirements and produce a predictive RF & High Level LAN Design.
- Use the design to identify/quantify a complete list of equipment and materials required for the work.
- Estimate the level of effort for each site quote
Designs and Implementations
- Review and evaluate embassy/consulate WiFi survey reports, develop LAN/WAN and Wi-Fi design that meets the specifications provided by the survey Team.
- Collaborate with the survey team to finalize the design and provide a detailed list of materials required to implement the design.
- Coordinate each design with the Network Operations Team to ensure completeness and compliance with the LWS Network Architecture.
- Provide and submit requests to the Logistics Team for delivery and staging by the Network Operations Team.
- Collaborate with the Network regarding any site specific question related to staging the equipment.
- Keep the Wi-Fi Project Manager apprised of the staging status.
- Provide Technical installation and troubleshooting support to the Wi-Fi Survey and Installation Teams during their trips. (Will require local after hours support)
- Review the Survey Reports and submit to the Wi-Fi Project Manager for final review
- Review the Installation Reports and submit to the Wi-Fi Project Manager for final review
- Track the technical execution of the program schedule with the DOS and AT&T PM. Identify and track risks associated with each project and the overall schedule.
Travel and Remote Support
- When directed by DOS, travel worldwide to participate in and possibly Lead Wi-Fi surveys and/or installations.
- Provide remote troubleshooting support to deployed installation teams when problems arise.
- Provide project In-Briefs to the Site Tenants at the beginning of each trip.
- Perform RF and LAN as required during the surveys.
- Perform Network Core upgrades and cutovers as required during the installations.
- Configure, test, implement, and troubleshoot wired and wireless network technologies and devices as required during installations.
- Provide project Out-Briefs to the Site Tenants at the end of each trip.

Basic Qualifications: 10+ years of experience with integration engineering 3+ years of experience in at least 2 of the following tools: AppD, Dynatrace, Splunk ITSI, SolarWinds or ScienceLogic with installing agents, forwarders, APIs, performance monitoring tool alerts, dashboards, and data trend analysis in a monitoring tool 3+ years of experience with ServiceNow ITSM Experience with recommending baseline monitoring thresholds and performance monitoring KPIs and SLAs Experience with gathering and organizing large amounts of data to use for instrumentation into an Enterprise monitoring solution Experience with creating technical documentation. Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements Ability to provide monitoring tool infrastructure recommendations Additional Qualifications: Experience with the VA Experience with Splunk, SolarWinds or ScienceLogic a plus Experience with VA VistA Experience with the ServiceNow Visual Task Boards Experience in Agile and Scrum Ability to work with customers and manage schedules Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills Public Trust Clearance: Applicants selected may be subject to a government investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements of the U.S. government client.
