This position is located on a wildland fire crew as a senior crew member within the fire management organization. The purpose of the position is wildland fire suppression/management/control, as a specialized firefighter on an engine with the responsibility for the operation and maintenance of specialized tools or equipment. Other wildland fire related duties may involve fire prevention, patrol, detection, or prescribed burning. The incumbent may be assigned for varying periods of time into one of more types of positions within the wildfire program where the individuals specialized skills are required. Primary duties are directly connected with the control and extinguishment of fires and/or maintaining and using firefighter apparatus and equipment. The duties of this positions are so rigorous that employment is limited to physically vigorous individuals who meet established physical requirements.
Requirements
VALID OREGON DRIVERS LICENSE IS REQUIRED. Must be able to pass medical exam and arduous fitness test. Must have a telephone or reliable message phone, and be available and on call 24 hours a day during the fire season.
