Our client is seeking a versatile software developer who is proficient in back-end development and capable of both adapting to established patterns and working within existing PHP-based legacy code bases. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of front-end and back-end skills, and be a fast learner with strong instincts. Familiarity with modern AB testing, Docker containerized development, analytics, and unit and functional testing is also required.

While our e-commerce website is our core product, we also develop and maintain numerous other products that rely on open-source technologies such as PHP, Symfony, JavaScript, and MySQL. Proficiency in additional languages such as Vue, HTML, CSS, Git, and Twig is necessary. We are always seeking opportunities to improve our products through the use of new technologies, and are eager to hear about any relevant experience candidates may have.

ROLE:

Collaborate with technical management, engineers, product managers, designers, and scrum masters to assist clients in achieving their business objectives through the creation of software solutions. Develop, test, and troubleshoot web applications for both desktop and mobile platforms. Write unit and functional tests for all new or existing features, and incorporate new solutions into existing platforms. Maintain and optimize existing applications.

In addition, create test plans for features that you develop and collaborate closely with other stakeholders throughout the Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing process. Participate in code review and adhere to coding standards. Support planning and implementation of improvements to our application architecture, development environments, and development processes.

Job Description:

• Possess strong Object-Oriented Programming skills and a comprehensive understanding of design patterns and modern software development best practices.
• Possess practical technological experience and a solid understanding of PHP, MySQL, HTML, and JavaScript. While familiarity with CSS is preferred, it is not essential unless you are presenting yourself as a front-end developer.
• Demonstrate excellent teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with fellow engineers and product owners toward a common objective.
• Possess experience or knowledge of running a website at scale, including query optimization, caching technologies, job queues, message servers, and other related aspects.
• Possess extensive experience working directly with business stakeholders, and demonstrate the ability to align with their priorities and identify ways to achieve measurable improvements in their goals. Be able to discuss instances where you contributed to solutions that were not strictly software-based.
• Exhibit a willingness and eagerness to take initiative. If you spot something that appears incorrect, your first inclination should be to seek clarification rather than accepting it as accurate.
• Possess excellent communication skills. Our organization utilizes JIRA, Confluence, Git commits, and Stash code review comments for tracking purposes. We conduct daily stand-ups, weekly 1-1s, and semi-annual performance evaluations. You must be capable of communicating effectively both verbally and in writing to thrive in this environment
