Photonic Design Engineer
Tasks
Within LIGENTECs engineering team our mission is be to bring our integrated photonics platform to the next level building on its worldclass passive photonics and extending the functionality with active component integration:
Role and Responsibilities
You are part of an interdisciplinary project team that drives the development of new and improved functionalities on Ligentecs integrated photonics platform. You:
- Own the design simulation and layout integrated photonic components and circuits for customerdriven and strategic roadmap projects:
- Advanced passive components leveraging Ligentecs SiN platform for functionalities including polarization management low loss interfaces and spectral filters.
- Active component integration via hybrid and heterogeneous assembly including photodiode and modulator technology.
- Drive our design and layout methodology for new technology development:
- Develop earlystage processdesign kits enabling engagement with customers in the R&D stage.
- Optimize designand layout code reusability adopting industry best practices.
- Contribute to the development of our device fabrication and test database.
- Interact with the characterization team collect capabilities design test structures and support in test planning and data analysis (design for testability).
- Interact with the process team and yield engineering collect capabilities and requirements design test structures (design for manufacturability).
- Contribute to mask assembly and tapeout management when needed.
- You provide concise and clear documentation and reporting.
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in photonics or related fields.
- Minimum of 3 years handson experience in integrated optics design in a top environment preferably industrial.
- Passionate about programming and data analysis comfortable using Python and git.
- Photonic layout experience (e.g. IPKISS GDSFactory) and design experience (e.g. Lumerical).
- Solid understanding of different photonic material platforms.
- Experience with design of active components (IIIV) and heterogeneous integration is a plus.
- Experience with setting up design and layout databases is a plus.
- Able to work in a fastpaced environment and capable to deal with changing priorities.
- Excellent communication and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and with remote teams.
- Working proficiency in English.
