Overview:

As an Occupational Therapist Assistant you play a crucial role in helping patients regain independence and improve their quality of life. Working under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist you will support in the implementation of therapy programs to help individuals with injuries or disabilities overcome daily challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in carrying out treatment plans developed by Occupational Therapists.
  • Provide therapeutic techniques to help patients with daily activities.
  • Conduct patient assessments and document their progress.
  • Assist in developing and implementing rehabilitation programs.
  • Guide patients in the proper use of adaptive equipment.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for patients.
  • Conduct and participate in therapeutic activities and exercises.
  • Monitor and report patients response to treatment.
  • Keep accurate and updated patient records and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and protocols.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families.
  • Provide support to patients dealing with emotional and psychological challenges.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of discharge plans.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Uphold ethical and professional standards in all interactions and responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • State licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapist Assistant.
  • Strong understanding of therapeutic principles and techniques.
  • Previous experience in a clinical or healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of patient assessment and treatment planning.
  • Familiarity with rehabilitation and adaptive equipment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with healthcare teams.
  • Proficiency in documenting patient progress and treatment outcomes.
  • Empathy and compassion in working with individuals with physical or mental challenges.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Adherence to professional and ethical standards.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of the role.
