Responsible for healthcare claims collections, follow-up, and resolution.
The Medical Billing Specialist / Collections is responsible for the timely and appropriate reimbursement for all patients accounts and claims billed from all insurance partners. They are assigned to identify and perform all aspects of contractual write-offs, adjustments, collection of insurances and reconciliation / collections of patient accounts, and claims follow up. Collections Specialists document each step in the collections process and manage patient information in a software database.
Collections Specialists will work closely with patients to ensure patient responsibility is remitted timely and/or set up on payment plans to manage all outstanding balances.
The Medical Collections Specialist Is ultimately responsible to HerMD Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for all conduct, duties, and responsibilities
Daily functions are administered under supervision of the Senior Manager of Revenue Cycle
Collect delinquent accounts and establish payment arrangements with patients.
Work pre-collections reports and assist with internal collections efforts.
Collaborate with patients to ensure timely remittance of patient responsibility or set up payment plans for outstanding balances.
Resolve patients inquiries regarding their balances, insurance questions, authorizations, and covered services.
Follow up and resolution of unpaid and denied submitted claims.

High School Diploma/General Education Development (GED)
At least 3 years of experience in medical collections or related field.
Knowledge of medical terminology, CMS-1500 claim forms, HIPAA, and State and Federal guidelines.
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Private insurance billing regulations is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Customer Service Experience
Working knowledge of EHR systems
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and Private insurance billing regulations
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
Detail-oriented and strong analytical skills.
Problem-solving skills.
