About the Opportunity:

We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Fitter (UK) at Norman Hay Engineering, based in Coventry, UK with occasional travel to other sites.

Tasks

What will you do?

The Mechanical Fitter will report to the Production Manager and involves assembling and assisting in the manufacture of plant and equipment to recognised NHE standards.

  • Crane and lifting of heavy fabrications.
  • Set up and/or operate hand and machine tools or welding equipment.
  • Dismantle faulty tools and assemblies and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Cut and install pneumatic pipes & fittings
  • Fit and assemble metal parts, tools or sub-assemblies.
  • Operate machines to produce parts or tools by turning, boring, milling, grinding or drilling metal stock or components.
  • Set up and adjust metalwork machines and equipment.
  • Fit and assemble metal parts, tools or sub-assemblies. sub-assemblies. b, material and equipment requirements.
  • Carry out all duties with guidance but without constant supervision.
  • Keep all work areas in a clean, tidy and safe manner.
  • Check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools or sub assemblies.
  • Ensure that safe working practices are carried out.
  • To comply with company Health & Safety.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by the management.

Requirements

What do we look for?

Essential (must have)

  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Pneumatics
  • Machining (Turning, milling, etc.)
  • Parts inspection
  • Onsite experience
  • Pipe work (Mild steel, St/stl, PVC, ABS, Polyprop)
  • An awareness of Health and Safety regulations

Desirable (nice to have)

  • A recognised qualification in mechanical engineering or experience
  • Basic steel fabrication
  • Electrical experience
  • Mig/Tig Welding
  • IPAF
  • Fork truck
  • Time served apprenticeship
