JOB DESCRIPTION:
Specific Position Requirements: Your Responsibilities
- We are seeking a Materials Engineer to join our Materials Engineering Lab team.
- The successful candidate will be primarily focused on materials testing and writing technical reports to ensure the quality and compliance of our products.
- This position will require a strong background in materials science and engineering as well as excellent problemsolving analytical and communication skills.
- The candidate will work under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the analysis of information specification of methods and processes and continuous improvement of manufacturing or materials processes.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create test plans under the guidance of senior colleagues ensuring efficient and accurate execution of materials testing processes that meet the customers needs.
- Perform materials testing using established procedures and techniques to ensure product quality and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
- Write detailed technical reports based on materials testing results outlining findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including design manufacturing and quality assurance to ensure materials meet the necessary specifications and performance requirements.
- Provide technical support to manufacturing teams to troubleshoot and resolve materialsrelated issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of experiments results and analyses and present findings to stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of proposed engineering solutions
- Identify shortcomings in existing processes systems and procedures and address them using established change management programs.
- Carry out a range of product development and engineering activities using established systems to analyse customer needs and define and deliver results.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Materials Science Materials Engineering or a related field; or minimum 1 year of professional experience in materials engineering with a focus on materials testing
- Strong understanding of materials properties characterization techniques and processing methods.
- Proficient in the use of office productivity software such as word processing and spreadsheets for effective data management and presentation.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong problemsolving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
- Ability to lift parts up to 20 lbs and stand for extended periods of time.
Major Purpose
- Assists and supports materials engineering work that is narrow in scope and responsibility.
- This job fully integrates an individual into the engineering culture by performing professional materials engineering (e.g. chemicals plastics finishes metallurgy heat treat ceramics etc) assignments and specific engineering tasks that are limited in scope depth and degree of skill required.
- Work plans and decisions are reviewed by supervisors.
Major Duties
- Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps as well as the plant machinery and equipment required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems.
- Contribute to the development of and implement feasibility testing of proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.
- Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
- Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and acting as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan.
- Identify shortcomings in existing processes systems and procedures and use established change management programs to address them.
- Help others get the most out of knowledge management systems by offering support and advice.
- Carry out a range of product development and engineering activities. Use established systems to analyse customer needs and define and deliver products.
- Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
- Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation where relevant to improve performance and fulfil personal potential.
- Maintain an understanding of relevant technology external regulation and industry best practices through ongoing education attending conferences and reading specialist media.
