Job Description

Req ID : 1677002

You will help to make Africa a safer place for animals, working with inspiring people and a strong network.

Junior Guardians are mostly students and young professionals, but also professionals with more experience who take on operational tasks in all areas of our organization and are not able to contribute financially, yet.

We see our Junior Guardians as the future of the AMES Foundation. It is our goal to develop Junior Guardians into permanent, co-creating Guardians.

Our Guardians support in many ways through their knowledge, contacts, experience and ideas. Support that goes far beyond a purely financial commitment.

Junior Guardians commit themselves to work proactively on the constant improvement of the AMES Foundation. Given a certain point in the future where they are in a financial position to support it financially in addition to their personal commitment, they will.

There is no financial compensation for this position. All junior guardians invest their time and effort as PRO BONO to make Africa a safer place for animals.

Tasks

  • Operational support of a specific teams (organisation, legal, fundraising, marketing, innovation, conservation, finance, community, experience, communication) together with other Junior Guardians and members of the Leadership team
  • Very diverse tasks, e.g. organization of events, research, business plan modeling, project management, support of social media channels, preparation of internal and external stakeholder documents etc.
  • Independent project responsibility and implementation of ideas
  • Participation in (bi-)weekly team calls and monthly all-hand meetings
  • Independent communication with internal and external partners

Requirements

  • You are still studying, are a career starter or your job allows you a weekly time commitment of 5 to 10 hours.
  • You should be willing to make this time commitment in the medium term and reliably, only in this way can we work together efficiently and drive important projects forward together
  • You have a high level of self-motivation and reliability, independent work, analytical thinking, creative implementation skills and solution-oriented action
  • You can work effectively with people at all levels of an organization and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
  • Ideally, you have already demonstrated your talent and drive in one or more relevant internships and want to apply your knowledge hands-on
  • You want to work in an organisation where you can learn a tremendous amount and have the freedom to shape your work as you see fit
  • An affinity for Africa, nature, animal welfare are probably a given either way

Benefits

  • With your work, you make Africa a safe place for animals and protect endangered species
  • You work flexibly according to your own schedule
  • You will work directly with one of the leadership team members (7 CEOs, founders, investors) and the extended AMES team and participate in regular feedback calls
  • You have the opportunity to initiate projects and implement your ideas independently
  • You will have the opportunity to visit our AMES reserve in South Africa at special rates
  • You will be part of a strong network and receive invitations to special events

About us

AMES is a for-purpose and not a non-profit organisation. We are a community of makers, creatives, entrepreneurs, founders, investors and CEOs united in our goal to preserve Africa's nature, protect biodiversity and make the continent a safe place for animals. We make rational decisions, work entrepreneurially, 100% transparently and sustainably. And have fun doing it: doing good doesn't have to hurt.

The foundation was established in June 2020 and we now have more than 100 Guardians who help support our mission. AMES runs its own reserve in South Africa and works on other projects through various partnerships with other organisations. We are growing as an organisation and the circle of supporters every day and want to take the next step to be able to position ourselves robustly in the future and to have a positive long-term contribution in the fight against species extinction.
