This is a remote position.
Construction Management & Development, Inc. (CM&D) is currently seeking a talented individual with
estimating experience. This position will work closely with clients, architects, engineers, project
managers, contractors, and others as required to establish accurate estimates from the planning stage
through the project bid-out stage and is required to have the following skills:
Duties & Responsibilities
- Understand the principles and methodology of construction cost estimating from a consulting
estimating perspective.
- Participate and help develop budget estimates by performing accurate quantity take offs using
- plans and specifications, or conceptual information.
- Review, interpret and accurately estimate the scope of assigned work as described in the project
documents.
- Utilizing and managing in-house historical cost data to improve estimate accuracy. Apply costs
and rates, as provided by Director of Estimating.
- Assists the Project Managers in preparing bid packages for contractors and vendors.
- Develop and nurture subcontractor/vendor and client relationships.
- Evaluate changes and subcontractor change order estimates. Provide expertise in all phases of
construction work.
- Work and collaborate with Team Members throughout the country for specific project sector
needs.
- Participate in meetings with clients providing outstanding consultative services.
- Participate in Constructability and innovation reviews of construction plans and specifications.
- Participate in Value engineering reviews.
- Participate in negotiating construction cost estimates with other parties
Requirements
- 3 - 5+ years of estimating, cost management, and/or project management experience for complex vertical construction projects.
- A minimum of a bachelor s degree in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management is required or 7 - 10+ years of combined experience with a General Contractor, Cost Consulting/CM/PM Firm, and or Sub-Contractors.
- Previous experience with high acuity healthcare and high-rise general hospitals, hospitality, hotel, residential, and high rise is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates living in Los Angeles, CA
- Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written; be computer literate and capable of using MS Office (Word, Excel), Internet/email, project management, estimating and scheduling programs (Timberline, OST, CostX, PlanSwift, MC2, Microsoft Project, etc.).

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration or Construction Management is required. 5 15 years of project management experience for Type 3 and Type 5 construction. 5 10 years demonstrated previous construction experience with full-cycle, large scale residential experience. Demonstrated Civil/Infrastructure experience on large scale horizontal master plan projects that include cut/fill, grading, underground conduit, roads, curbs, buildings pads, etc. in the design, entitlement, permitting and construction phases. Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must have excellent writing and typing skills, be computer literate and capable of using multiple applications including but not limited to MS Office365 (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat; Microsoft Project; Cloud-based Filesharing (Eg. Box, Egnyte, Sharepoint); Construction Management apps (Procore, e-Builder, BuilderTrend, etc); and general Internet. Must be located near Atlanta metro area, or relocate at own expense.
