About the job
As an IT Hardware Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various hardware components and devices, including computers, servers, and networking equipment. Also, Diagnosing and resolving hardware-related issues to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Hardware Installation and Configuration:
- Install, configure, and upgrade hardware components, including desktops, laptops, servers, and networking equipment.
- Set up and maintain computer systems and peripherals such as printers, scanners, and monitors.
- Hardware Maintenance:
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance on hardware to ensure functionality and longevity.
- Perform hardware repairs and component replacements as needed to resolve issues promptly.
- Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose hardware problems and implement effective solutions.
- Respond to hardware-related incidents and service requests in a timely manner.
- Hardware Upgrades:
- Evaluate hardware performance and recommend upgrades or replacements to meet evolving business needs.
- Plan and execute hardware refresh cycles to maintain up-to-date technology.
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate hardware inventory records, including tracking assets, serial numbers, and warranties.
- Coordinate procurement and disposal of hardware equipment.
- Documentation:
- Create and maintain documentation for hardware configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Ensure that documentation is up to date and accessible to relevant staff members.
- Security and Compliance:
- Implement security measures for hardware assets, including physical security, access controls, and encryption where applicable.
- Ensure hardware compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Collaborate with IT teams and other departments to resolve hardware-related issues.
- Provide technical support to end-users, assisting with hardware-related inquiries and problems.
- Training and Awareness:
- Offer training and guidance to employees on the proper use and care of hardware equipment.
- Promote awareness of IT policies and best practices.

Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or any related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Server+, etc.) are advantageous.
- Proven experience as an IT Hardware Technician or similar role in an IT environment.
- Proficiency in hardware installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of computer hardware components, operating systems, and software applications.
- Familiarity with networking principles and protocols.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move hardware equipment as needed.

- IT Hardware Technicians typically work in an office environment, but they may need to visit remote sites or data centers when required.
