Overview

The HVAC Design Engineer plays a crucial role in the design and development of HVAC systems for various projects. They are responsible for ensuring that HVAC systems are efficient reliable and costeffective while meeting the specific requirements of each project. This role is vital in ensuring the comfort and safety of building occupants by providing effective heating ventilation and air conditioning systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborating with project managers and clients to understand HVAC system requirements.
  • Designing HVAC systems using AutoCAD and other design software.
  • Performing load calculations to determine heating and cooling requirements.
  • Creating and reviewing HVAC system drawings and specifications.
  • Selecting appropriate equipment and components for HVAC systems.
  • Conducting energy efficiency and sustainability assessments for HVAC systems.
  • Coordinating with architects and other engineering disciplines to integrate HVAC systems into building designs.
  • Participating in project meetings and providing technical expertise related to HVAC designs.
  • Conducting site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with design and safety standards.
  • Supporting the commissioning and testing of HVAC systems.
  • Staying updated on industry standards codes and regulations related to HVAC design.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
  • Communicating with suppliers and contractors regarding HVAC system components and installations.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to junior engineers and design team members.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in HVAC system design and engineering.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other relevant design software.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering principles and HVAC system components.
  • Strong knowledge of industry codes standards and regulations related to HVAC design.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform load calculations and energy efficiency assessments.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for client and team interactions.
  • Capability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Detailoriented approach to design and documentation.
  • Familiarity with sustainable and energyefficient HVAC design practices.
  • Experience with commissioning and testing of HVAC systems is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant certifications are advantageous.
  • Willingness to stay updated on advancements in HVAC technology and design trends.
  • Problemsolving abilities and the capacity to work under tight deadlines.
