Head Of English Department

JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform the duties of a teacher
• Lead and manage department staff, providing constant communication and guidance
• Provide professional development to staff as needed
• Implement curriculum objectives
• Contribute to the development of the whole school’s curriculum
• Participate in staff interviews when necessary and contribute with resource allocation recommendations
• Assess, record, and analyze the achievement of students
• Improve student achievement and attainment within the subject area
• Develop teaching practices within the department
• Ensure the development of holistic and balanced curricula and syllabi that are in line with the school’s educational objectives
• Set examination papers, coordinate marking schemes, and moderate examinations and assessment processes
• Manage day-to-day departmental operations
• Keep up to date with changes in local/national curricula
• Maintain effective, professional relationships with all staff members and parents

Job Requirements

• Excellent communication skills and problem-solving skills
• Fluent in English
