Who and what are we looking for
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated GIS Analyst to join our team. As a GIS Analyst you will play a crucial role in managing analyzing and visualizing spatial data to support various projects and initiatives. You will utilize your expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related tools to provide valuable insights and contribute to datadriven decisionmaking processes.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
Data Collection and Management:
Acquire and compile geospatial data from various sources including satellite imagery aerial photographs field surveys and public databases.
Organize and maintain spatial databases to ensure data integrity and accessibility.
Conduct quality checks on collected data and update databases as needed.
Spatial Analysis:
Perform spatial analysis techniques such as overlay analysis LULC mapping proximity analysis and network analysis to derive meaningful insights from geographic data.
Apply statistical methods to analyze spatial patterns and relationships.
Identify trends patterns and anomalies through geospatial analysis and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
GIS Mapping and Visualization:
Create maps and visualizations using GIS software such as ArcGIS QGIS or other industrystandard tools.
Develop thematic maps interactive web maps and other cartographic products to communicate spatial information effectively.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their mapping needs and provide tailored solutions.
Geodatabase Design and Maintenance:
Design and implement geodatabases ensuring appropriate data modeling schema design and documentation.
Manage geodatabase updates versioning and archiving.
Implement data standards and best practices to ensure consistency and data integrity.
Project Support and Collaboration:
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to integrate GIS data and analysis into larger
projects and initiatives.
Assist in project planning scoping and execution ensuring GIS requirements are
met.
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their mapping needs and provide tailored solutions.
Provide technical support and training to team members on GISrelated tools and
techniques.
Planning and executing site visits for data collection.
Data collection and storage in central documents such as Google Documents.
Onboard yourself into Earthtree Workplace JIRA Confluence and Earthbanc MRV
App and check the posts each day and reply conscientiously with Earthtree
colleagues to ensure you keep moving priorities and project deliverables forward.
5 years of experience as a GIS Analyst/consultant.
Bachelors degree in Geography GIS Geomatics Environmental Science Forestry Agriculture Horticulture or a related field. A masters degree is a plus.
Strong proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS QGIS or similar tools with a focus on applications in forestry agriculture or horticulture.
Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau Power BI Excel or similar platforms.
Familiarity with statistical analysis techniques and predictive modeling.
Knowledge of data cleansing transformation and preparation techniques specific to
forestry agriculture or horticulture data.
Ability to interpret and communicate complex data findings to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders in the context of forestry agriculture or horticulture domains.
Indepth knowledge of forestry agriculture or horticulture practices including land management crop management forest inventory or tree species identification.
Proficiency in geospatial analysis techniques and spatial statistics specifically related to forestry agriculture or horticulture.
Experience in working with geospatial databases and data management with a focus on forestry agriculture or horticulture data.
Familiarity with remote sensing data satellite imagery and image processing techniques relevant to forestry agriculture or horticulture.
Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or R for automation and analysis.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to present complex geospatial information.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a teamoriented environment with stakeholders from forestry agriculture or horticulture domains.
Experience with web mapping technologies and spatial data visualization specifically in the context of forestry agriculture or horticulture is desirable.
Knowledge of industryspecific domains such as forest management precision agriculture agroforestry or horticulture is a plus.
