Elementary/Primary Literacy Coach Beijing

Commencing Aug 24 The school founded in 2016 is a K12 international school located at the foot of the picturesque and historic YuQuan Mountain Haidian District in Beijing. The campus is 200000 square meters of beautiful gardens that integrate natural ecology cultural heritage and modern beauty with 140000 square meters of green space.

The school curriculum is organized into the Primary School grades K5 the Middle School grades 68 and High School grades 912. Under the guidance of the Ministry of Educations nineyear compulsory education program the curriculum is built on the strength from both Chinese and western education.
For Primary and Middle School the school follows a bilingual program using the US Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards along with the Chinese National Curriculum. For High School the school follows the US Common Core and College Board AP curriculum and also offers the UK IGCSE and ALevel UK programs.

The Role

The Literacy Coach plays a pivotal role in fostering literacy development among elementary school students in Beijing. Working collaboratively with teachers administrators and other stakeholders the Literacy Coach designs implements and evaluates literacy initiatives to enhance students reading writing and communication skills. The primary objective is to cultivate a culture of literacy excellence within the school community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Curriculum Development: Collaborate with educators to design and align literacy curriculum with national and international standards ensuring a balanced approach to reading writing speaking and listening skills.
  2. Professional Development: Provide ongoing professional learning opportunities for teachers to enhance their instructional strategies literacy assessment techniques and differentiation practices.
  3. Data Analysis: Analyze student literacy data to identify strengths weaknesses and trends utilizing assessment results to inform instructional decisionmaking and personalized interventions.
  4. Instructional Support: Model effective literacy instruction in classrooms provide feedback to teachers and offer coaching sessions to support their implementation of researchbased literacy practices.
  5. Resource Management: Curate a collection of diverse and engaging literacy resources including books digital materials and instructional tools to support classroom instruction and independent reading.
  6. Parent and Community Engagement: Collaborate with families community organizations and educational partners to promote literacy awareness provide resources for athome support and organize literacy events and workshops.
  7. Collaborative Leadership: Work collaboratively with school leadership teams to establish literacy goals monitor progress and evaluate the effectiveness of literacy initiatives through ongoing assessment and reflection.
  8. Professional Growth: Stay abreast of current research trends and best practices in literacy instruction through professional reading attendance at conferences and participation in professional learning communities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Education Literacy or a related field (Masters degree preferred)
  • Teaching certification (B.Ed PGCE QTS national/state teaching license/certificate or equivalent NOT TEFL or TESOL) and classroom experience in elementary education
  • Demonstrated expertise in literacy instruction including knowledge of phonics fluency vocabulary comprehension and writing instruction
  • Experience in coaching mentoring or providing professional development to educators
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting student data and designing targeted interventions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency in both English and Mandarin Chinese preferred
  • Adaptability creativity and a passion for promoting literacy development in young learners
