This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and results-focused individual to be part of the publishing team.

The Development Editor Print & Digital will work within the ELT publishing team and will have day-to-day responsibility for content development from project conceptualisation to publication, ensuring in the process that all material is of an appropriate quality and fully aligned to the publishing vision of the organisation. The ideal candidate will develop and revise as well as plan and coordinate for publishing digital products / solutions; assure the integrity, utility and currency of editorial content of publications assigned to the position, in strict adherence to schedule, budget and compliance to all standards in dealing with all stakeholders of each of the projects; assist the team to meet all portfolio responsibilities. The role will also involve extensive liaising with authors and suppliers, and provisioning support to vital stakeholders such as Sales and Marketing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Work on ELT print and digital projects meant to cater to the adult learning /teaching segment
  • Conduct research and analysis on learners and contexts vis- -vis the requirements
  • Work with subject matter experts to identify learning / training needs and ensure content generation / review to the scope of work and Company's standards
  • Take up tasks like mapping syllabi with existing products, refining syllabi shared by universities and colleges, reviewing and developing content, copyediting, proof reading, creating illustration briefs, checking content for plagiarism and researching content
  • Manage print and digital projects end-to-end from conceptualising to handover to production
  • State instructional end goals and create content that matches them ensuring ELT methodologies are translated into practice
  • Create / review / edit storyboards, engaging learning / practice activities, assignment, assessments, manuals and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer
  • Liaise with suppliers commissioned by Company to create / create content for digital use / media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc) visualising instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product
  • Strictly adhere to all publishing processes and maintain clean project documentation through the course of work
  • Conduct product training / orientation sessions for (prospective) customers and internal teams

Requirements

  • Over 5 years of experience of working with a range of print and digital educational / academic projects for adults, and managing complex multi-component projects
  • Ability to communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Proven working experience in instructional design, especially ELT products / solutions will be an added advantage
  • Knowledge of ELT methodologies / theories and instructional design models
  • Ability to develop content, especially storyboards
  • Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts / video scripts
  • Attention to detail, quality control and an ability to engage with content at the highest level
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to follow processes closely
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous deadlines
  • Presentation skills
  • Time Management scheduling and planning work; managing time competently
  • Judgment and decision making -- considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions before acting
  • Experience with LMS preferred but not mandatory

Educational / Professional Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in English / Linguistics / Teaching of English as a Second Language
  • Postgraduate degree in English / Instructional Design
  • Excellent command of the English language
  • Previous experience in instructional design for adult ELT courses will be an added advantage
