Our client is a large NSW Government Organisation who are seeking Database Analystto join their team.



The Data Analyst, Data Governance and Management will work with key stakeholders in the Screening and Prevention division, as well as with service management staff, to develop and maintain Information System initiatives. This role will as part of a team acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain the BreastScreen Information System (BIS) databases, the Screening Data Warehouse (SDW) and any flow-on Data Marts. These Information Systems aid in the provision and improvement of cancer screening services in NSW and support the achievement of Cancer Plan objectives.



Key Responsibilities:


  1. Undertake data management and remediation of a large and complex relational database and data warehouse.
  2. Produce an impact/change analysis of data related changes to the BIS including upgrades and service releases. The report will identify and analyse impacts and changes to BIS, the SDW and flow-on Data Marts ensuring business intelligence capabilities are maintained following changes to source systems
  3. Development of ETL solutions using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) for the Screening Data Warehouse (SDW) and all Screening & Prevention Data Marts
  4. Contribute to the development and implementation of quality assurance and governance frameworks and processes for screening and prevention data holdings. This involves devising monitoring and business intelligence solutions to proactively identify, correct and prevent potential data quality issues and ensure the integrity and accuracy of data.
  5. Testing of data solutions to ensure requirements and outcomes meet business needs
  6. Undertake monitoring and troubleshooting of production ETL processes.
  7. Undertake the creation and maintenance of Data Dictionaries for all nominated Data Sets.
  8. Design, create and update all Technical Documentation to ensure accurate procedures, guidelines are maintained and support knowledge management practices
  9. Contribute to the development and implementation of data system improvements.

Selection Criteria:


  1. Tertiary qualifications in information technology or engineering, or a related discipline; or demonstrated equivalent professional experience
  2. Experience with SQL Server and Microsoft SSIS in database development and administration
  3. Understanding of data management and governance principles and methods as they relate to health records
  4. Experience with undertaking data analysis and reporting on large datasets for the purpose of performance monitoring and improvement
  5. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and independently with minimal supervision
  6. Understanding of and commitment to comply with relevant confidentiality and privacy guidelines.




On offer is a 11 month contract at a highly sought after NSW Government Organisaton, with a highly competitive daily rate.
