Description
This contract position is an on-site role that presents an exceptional opportunity to work with a dedicated team of healthcare professionals committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
In this role you will play a critical part in our cardiothoracic surgery department providing comprehensive surgical care to patients with heart and lung conditions. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and contribute to ongoing quality improvement initiatives within our practice.
Responsibilities
- Perform cardiothoracic surgical procedures and manage pre-operative and post-operative care
- Conduct patient consultations and evaluations to determine surgical needs
- Collaborate with surgical teams to plan and execute complex surgeries
- Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
- Participate in case reviews and quality assurance activities
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Educate patients and families on surgical procedures and recovery
- Stay updated on advancements in cardiothoracic surgery techniques and technologies
Requirements
- MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
- Valid medical license to practice in the state of California
- Completion of residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Strong clinical skills and surgical expertise in cardiothoracic procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
- Level III Trauma
- Schedule: 24-hour call shifts 7a-7a
- Setting: Hospital and some clinic coverage
- Average Patient Volume: 2-3 ICU patients 1-2 admissions and 2 callbacks
- Duties: Office hours hospital rounds heart team meeting interacting with APPs and surgery
- Required Procedures: Cardiac and thoracic procedures including CABG valve surgery aortic aneurysm repair TAVR etc.
- Support Staff: Medical office staff perfusionists nurses APPs and anesthesiologists
- EMR: Cerner
- Must be board-certified
- Paid travel & expenses
