About the role
Our Library Services team supports regional agriculture libraries and a virtual research library used by scientists policy makers and technical specialists across NSW.
This is a senior leadership role for an experienced library professional to lead contemporary library and information services that support scientific research policy development and evidence-based decision making.
As Team Lead you will provide both strategic and operational leadership across physical and digital library services guiding a specialist team responsible for collections research support and knowledge access. Working closely with research leaders scientists and corporate partners you will ensure trusted information is accessible discoverable and effectively used to support better outcomes for land water agriculture and the environment.

What youll deliver
- Lead end-to-end library and research information services that support high-quality scientific research and evidence-based decision making.
- Partner with research teams to understand their information needs and deliver tailored support including advanced literature searching research discovery and access to specialist resources.
- Provide strategic oversight of collections subscriptions and content licensing to ensure resources are relevant cost-effective and aligned with research priorities.
- Lead mentor and develop a professional library team building capability and a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement.
- Drive the development and improvement of digital library services knowledge platforms and research support tools.
- Oversee governance procurement and vendor management for library systems and information resources.
- Champion best practice research information services across the organisation and contribute to broader data information and knowledge management strategies.
You will bring
- At least 5 years experience in library management or leadership roles is highly regarded ideally within research science or technical environments.
- A strong track record of leading library services teams and collections in complex or enterprise settings.
- Demonstrated experience partnering with researchers or subject matter experts to deliver high-value information support.
- Deep understanding of research workflows scholarly communication and digital library services.
- Strong people leadership stakeholder engagement and strategic planning capability.
- Ability to translate research needs into practical high-impact library and information services.

Essential requirement:
- Qualifications acceptable for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) Australian Society of Archivists (ASA) or other combination of qualifications and/or experience deemed by the State Librarian to be equivalent that meets the minimum standard of skill and knowledge inherent in the ALIA standard.
