This can also include analyzing held funds and returned royalties and determining the course of action for dealing with them. This will require frequent communication and collaboration with other stakeholders within SOCAN (Legal Membership Finance) as well as external stakeholders such as foreign societies. They will also be required to identify process improvements and opportunities for efficiencies and provide expertise on multiple initiatives that relate to the exchange of royalties. WHAT YOULL DO / KEY RESPONSIBILITIESManage held funds process Management of royalties owing related to foreign debit/credit pending Research document reconcile financials and prepare adjustment paperwork to rectify distribution errors Determine priority for resolving outstanding issues/backlog Verification of flagging anomaly results and updating or correcting incorrect usage matches or no matches Corrections that can include updates to record types share splits and allocation of income to members for payment Handling Membership Returns Corrections or any other requests from Membership to maximize foreign income to members and accuracy of payment Maintaining the Watch-For List and ensuring associated items have been reviewed and corrections completed Tracking incoming foreign payments and foreign performance data including the reconciliation of debits credits foreign domestic returns and Pay Directs Actively monitoring timelines for receipt of files and payments for all Foreign Society Distributions quarterly to avoid delays in processing and meeting SLAs based on Tiers1 2 and 3Reconciliation of Invoices to Foreign Society Distributions and Files Daily Foreign Distribution file retrieval from Foreign PROs via SOCANs FTP site or Foreign FTP sites Identify and document possible improvements to business procedures and related processes associated with royalties owing activities Establish and update Policies and Procedures relative to the processing of the relevant accounts (and ensure adherence to policy by Distribution staff) Regularly communicate and liaise with Foreign Societies and internal stakeholders such as Finance to ensure processes and activities are running smoothly and meeting timelines as necessary Update repertoire/agreements as requiredAct as subject matter expert in relation to returned royalties activities (including CISAC-related initiatives) Provide guidance with the handling of Foreign Suspense processes Manage activities related to the handling of Canadian Members Conflict Reversionary Rights/Litigation/Foreign Domestic Returns Other duties as required WHAT YOU WILL BRING / QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or equivalentExcellent communication skillsComputer literacy required: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel) Excellent financial skills Excellent research skills and problem-solving skills Knowledge of existing SOCAN workflow Knowledge of repertoire copyright and share splits is an assetStrong time management skills to meet deadlines and ability to multi-task Detail oriented Strong problem solver Analytical Self-starter Results-oriented Thorough Efficient Proactive ACCESSIBILITY & ACCOMMODATIONSOCAN is committed to providing an inclusive workplace environment that meets the accessibility needs of employees with disabilities.
