Location:

This is a remote role based in Texas with the expectation to travel to the Houston headquarters approximately once a month for two days. To support seamless team collaboration and standard business hours we are only considering candidates located in Texas.

Who is Moleculin

Moleculin Biotech Inc. is a Phase 3 clinical stage pharmaceutical company advancing a pipeline of therapeutic candidates addressing hard-to-treat tumors and viruses. The Companys lead program Annamycin is a next-generation anthracycline designed to avoid multidrug resistance mechanisms and to eliminate the cardiotoxicity common with currently prescribed anthracyclines. Annamycin is currently in development for the treatment of relapsed or refractory acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and soft tissue sarcoma (STS) lung metastases.

The Senior Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for the preparation of Moleculins external financial reporting SEC filings technical accounting documentation and financial statement analysis. This role supports the monthly and quarterly close processes maintains compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements and partners closely with leadership external auditors and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

Responsibilities:

    • Prepare SEC related documents including Forms 8-K 10-Q 10-K S-1 filings Section 16 filings Annual Proxy Statement and other reports required by regulatory or other agencies in accordance with SEC guidelines established for public companies.
    • Review the Companys required XBRL disclosures and tagging for the Companys 10-Q/10-Ks
    • Assist outside legal counsel and the Manager of Financial Reporting with all equity compensation disclosures in the Annual Proxy Statement (including the new Pay vs. Performance calculations and disclosures).
    • Research technical accounting issues as needed and prepare quarterly/annual accounting memos for the files.
    • Document accounting treatment for debt/equity related transactions including accounting for debt issuance costs warrants stock and stock options.
    • Research and prepare the quarterly GAAP Accounting checklist to ensure compliance with SEC requirements.
    • Support the monthly closing process and prepare necessary reports to analyze the income statement balance sheet statement of cash flows and statement of stockholders equity including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
    • Prepare and record journal entries required to reflect monthly and quarterly activity and prepare quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for all accounts.
    • Prepare financial statements and year-to-date cash flow on a quarterly basis.
    • Review SOX Risk Control Matrix for completeness and updates as well as follow SOX processes.
    • Assist with coordinating with external auditors and assist with quarterly reviews and annual audits of the Companys consolidated financial statements.
    • Create and implement accounting policies and procedures to identify resolve and document accounting issues while improving the close and reporting processes for efficiency and accuracy.

    Education:

    • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance required.
    • Masters degree in accounting or finance preferred.
    • CPA preferred.

    Experience:

    • 5 years of experience required preferably with life science companies.
    • At least 2 years of public accounting experience.
    • SEC reporting experience required.
    • Experience with Oracle and NetSuite (OneWorld includes two foreign subsidiaries) required.
    • Advanced Microsoft Office (Outlook Excel Word PowerPoint) skills required.
    • Mac Laptops Apple Mac Environment preferred.
    • PNC Pinnacle Cash Management System interfaces with NetSuite preferred.
    • RDG Client Portal SEC filing system.
    • Experience with Lease Query.
