Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Transportation Planner to join our transportation planning team in a consulting environment. This role supports a variety of client-facing projects including corridor studies mobility plans and travel demand analysis for public agencies such as the Texas Department of Transportation MPOs and local governments.
The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with an interest in client interaction and business development. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys both technical work and building professional relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Support corridor studies subarea plans and regional mobility plans
- Perform data analysis using transportation demographic and land use datasets
- Assist with travel demand modeling and scenario analysis
- Prepare technical reports presentations and client deliverables
- Develop maps and visualizations using GIS tools
- Participate in client meetings workshops and stakeholder coordination
- Support public outreach efforts and community engagement activities
- Assist with proposal development and business development efforts including:
- Preparing resumes and project descriptions
- Contributing to technical approaches
- Supporting pursuit strategies
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and subconsultants
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Transportation Planning Urban Planning or related field
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in consulting
- Proficiency in:
- Microsoft Excel
- GIS tools (e.g. ArcGIS)
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline-driven consulting environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Passed FE Exam and active EIT certification (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)
- Experience with travel demand and traffic modeling software (TransCAD Cube VISUM VISSIM)
- Familiarity with Texas planning practices and MPO processes
- Exposure to data visualization tools (Tableau Power BI)
- Interest in client engagement and business development
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proactive and self-motivated with a willingness to take initiative
- Ability to balance technical work with client-facing responsibilities
Compensation Range:
