Job Summary

We are pleased to announce that we are seeking qualified applicants for temporary Support Instructors (PE/Movement Enrichment) for our RSD Summer Learning Program. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing team that supports the efforts of making success possible for all Redmond students.

Individuals selected will organize and plan supplementary activities focusing on enrichment opportunities (PE music art STEAM) for the four-week Summer Learning Program. The hired Support/Enrichment Instructor will work with all students attending the Summer Learning Program 1-6 grades. We are seeking licensed educators who are highly motivated to work with students and can build relationships and coherent support lessons that encourage student agency growth mindset and team work.

Timeframe:

  • Required teacher professional development and planning includes:
    • Four (4) 2.5 hour sessions (dates: May 26 June 2 after 4:00 pm; TBD on remaining 5 hrs)
    • One (1) 7 hour session Thursday July 16 (school set up)
    • One (1) 4 hr session Friday August 14 (school wrap up)
    • Up to 7 hours of additional individual planning if needed
  • Elementary Summer Learning will run FOUR weeks (Monday through Thursday);
    • Week 1: July 20-23
    • Week 2: July 27-30
    • Week 3: August 3-6
    • Week 4: August 10-13
      • Student hours are tentatively 9:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.
      • Teacher contract hours are tentatively 8:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.

Please note: Prep time during student contact time is not guaranteed daily.

Qualified candidates will have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Current Redmond School District Special Edcuation Employee
  • Hold a current TSPC license for teaching
  • Experience teaching K-6th grade students
  • Background knowledge or training in growth mindset
  • Experience knowledge and understanding of evidence-based literacy practices (Science of Reading)
  • A commitment to continuous professional growth
  • A commitment to professional collaboration
  • A commitment to building and maintaining relationships with all youth
  • A high level of knowledge skills and expertise related to scaffolding learning and instruction meeting needs of all students
  • A high-level understanding of the resources available to support students with diverse learning needs including: special education English Language Learners and the effects of poverty
  • Proficient teaching practices
  • Leadership skills and abilities
  • Success in maintaining organizational systems

Responsibilities Include:

  • Attend all 6 required sessions of district professional development and preparation (see Timeframe above for more details)
  • Teach four weeks of Summer Learning (see Timeframe above)
  • Develop and collaboratively plan engaging lessons that are rooted in literacy instruction and enriching grade-level learning.

What is the structure

One RSD elementary campus (TBD) will serve as the Summer Learning site for students across the Redmond School District. Programming is anticipated to include approximately three 1st-grade classes three 2nd-grade classes two 3rd-grade classes two 4th-grade classes two 5th-grade classes and two 6th-grade classes depending on enrollment.

The Summer Learning Program will align with all three goals of the State Summer Learning Grant:

  1. Advancing academic learning with a primary focus on literacy
  2. Supporting holistic youth development through enrichment and belonging
  3. Ensuring equitable access and meaningful family partnerships

What is the schedule of professional development

  • Four (4) 2.5 hour sessions (dates: May 26 June 2 after 4:00 pm; TBD on remaining 5 hrs)
    • Tentatively: May 26th June 2nd and June 9th and June 11th (or one day of planning in June after school has concluded)
  • SEVEN hours of building inservice and classroom setup July 16th
  • FOUR hours of Summer Learning Closure - classroom pack up August 14

Salary Stipend:

  • Summer Camp Instructor Certified Stipend $8000 Gross Pay (before taxes) for up to 140 hrs.

  • Final stipend pay will be prorated at a rate of $57.14/hour for absence from the agreed-upon schedule above in the event of an emergency absence
  • Final stipend pay will be paid with the completion of duties August 31 2026.
