Position Summary
The Clinic Manager is responsible for the overall leadership coordination and day-to-day operations of the Six Feathers Clinic. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality culturally safe and patient-centered primary care services to Keewaytinook Okimakanak (KO) First Nations members living in or traveling to Thunder Bay and surrounding areas.
The Clinic Manager oversees an interdisciplinary team of nurses nurse practitioners physicians physiotherapists and administrative staff ensuring effective collaboration efficient clinic operations and alignment with Keewaytinook Okimakanaks strategic priorities and Indigenous model of care.
Key Responsibilities
Clinic Development
- Support implementation of clinic workflows policies and operational procedures
- Assist with clinic readiness and operational systems during early program develop
- Support coordination with hospitals specialists diagnostic services and community health programs to facilitate patient referrals and continuity of care
- Collaborate with regional (Ontario/Manitoba) health partners to improve access to services for KO community members
Leadership and Operations
- Provide day-to-day operational leadership for the Six Feathers Clinic ensuring efficient and effective service delivery.
- Oversee clinic workflows scheduling systems and patient flow to support timely access to care.
- Ensure clinic operations align with KO Health policies procedures and funding requirements.
- Monitor and address operational challenges implementing solutions to improve service delivery.
Team Supervision and Support
- Supervise and support an interdisciplinary team including nurses nurse practitioners physicians physiotherapists and administrative staff.
- Promote a collaborative respectful and culturally safe team environment.
- Lead staff meetings performance management and ongoing professional development.
- Support recruitment onboarding and retention of clinic staff in collaboration with KO Human Resources.
Program Coordination and Quality Improvement
- Coordinate integrated service delivery across disciplines to ensure comprehensive patient-centered care.
- Monitor program performance using key indicators (e.g. patient attachment access satisfaction).
- Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives and support implementation of best practices.
- Ensure accurate data collection reporting and documentation in collaboration with the KO eHealth team.
Financial and Administrative Oversight
- Support budget management including monitoring expenditures and resource allocation.
- Oversee procurement of clinic supplies and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with reporting requirements for funders including the Ministry of Health.
- Support senior leadership with program development and funding-related initiatives by providing operational input andprogram information
Community Engagement and Cultural Safety
- Ensure services are delivered in a culturally safe trauma-informed and Indigenous-led manner.
- Engage with KO communities Elders and clients to gather feedback and inform service delivery.
- Promote a welcoming inclusive environment for all patients accessing care.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in health administration business administration or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 35 years of management experience preferably in a healthcare or clinic setting.
- Experience supervising interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong knowledge of primary care operations clinic workflows and health system navigation.
- Demonstrated leadership organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with budgeting reporting and program evaluation.
- Knowledge of or experience working with Indigenous communities and culturally safe care practices.
- Familiarity with EMR systems and digital health tools.
Working Conditions
- Based at the Six Feathers Clinic in Thunder Bay.
- Regular weekday hours with the possibility of occasional evening or weekend responsibilities on rare occasions.
- Fast-paced team-based clinical environment serving a diverse Indigenous population.
