About the Role:

The Assistant Peer Review Performance Manager plays a pivotal role in driving day-to-day peer review operations across a defined segment of Wileys Research Publishing journal portfolio.

In this position you will oversee the performance of editors and editorial offices ensuring alignment with expected behaviours KPIs and peer review best practices. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to optimize workflows enhance operational efficiency and deliver a high-quality consistent author experience throughout the publication lifecycle.

This role operates within an established framework receiving direction from your manager while leveraging guidance and coaching from senior peers to continuously improve performance outcomes.

How you will make an impact

  • Drive peer review excellence:
    Manage the end-to-end peer review process across a portfolio of journals ensuring timely high-quality editorial decisions and smooth transition to Content Operations.
  • Elevate editor and editorial office performance:
    Monitor and assess editor and administrative performance against defined KPIs providing feedback coaching and remediation where needed.
  • Enhance author experience:
    Champion initiatives that improve speed to decision transparency and quality across the author journey.
  • Leverage data to optimize performance:
    Analyze editorial data and insights to identify trends improve workflows and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices and integrity standards:
    Maintain rigorous oversight of peer review processes documentation accuracy and ethical standards including identifying and escalating integrity concerns.
  • Lead operational improvements:
    Review and refine journal workflows to improve efficiency consistency and alignment with Wiley standards supporting standardization and scalability.
  • Support change and transformation:
    Contribute to the rollout of new tools services and editorial office models including onboarding new partners and adapting to evolving operational frameworks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally:
    Partner with Publishing Operations Editorial Excellence data analysts and Research Publishing colleagues to deliver strategic and journal-level improvements.

What we look for

  • Proven experience in academic publishing peer review management or editorial operations
  • Strong understanding of peer review workflows editorial best practices and research integrity principles
  • Ability to manage performance through data metrics and KPI frameworks
  • Experience working with editors editorial boards or external vendors/partners
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across global cross-functional teams
  • Highly organized with strong time management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement standardization and operational efficiency
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to identify issues and implement corrective actions
