The Claims Specialist role is responsible for managing environmental claims to protect enterprise value and support effective Asset Retirement outcomes. This position integrates environmental risk evaluation with claims and liability management supporting disciplined execution accurate financial forecasting and optimized risk mitigation strategies for legacy and former Chevron facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and support environmental and property claims including settlements access agreements reimbursements and coordination with Legal across AR projects.
Develop and support integrated risk mitigation and claims strategies aligned with business objectives.
Challenge project endstate assumptions and contribute to strategic alternatives that optimize cost schedule and liability outcomes.
Partner with Legal Finance Remediation Operations Land and external stakeholders to execute claims and risk management activities.
Support development and maintenance of environmental reserves budgets and forecasts ensuring accurate liability recognition and reporting.
Apply Operational Excellence (OE) principles to ensure disciplined execution documentation and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
Experience in business environmental science engineering or a related field or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated experience in environmental risk management environmental claims or liability management or closely related roles.
Strong negotiation communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting environmental settlements reimbursements cost recovery efforts or site access agreements.
Familiarity with environmental reserve development forecasting and budgeting processes.
Working knowledge of environmental risk assessment practices and HSE property transfer evaluations.
Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations and environmental remediation activities.
Experience collaborating within crossfunctional teams and engaging with external agencies suppliers and property owners.
