What you will be doing:
This position represents Washingtons State Surplus Operations as an Auctioneer. Surplus Operations primary responsibilities are to keep State and Federal surplus property out of landfills (reutilizing property wherever possible) and to maximize the dollars that are returned to agencies. This role contributes to the agency mission by promoting sustainability and savings while maximizing the useful life of state assets and dollars returned to agencies. Your primary responsibility is being customer centric and delivering the best customer service to our partnering agencies and our purchasing customers.
The position is responsible for working with the owning agencies and their assets to maintain our 60-day commitment to return proceeds to disposing agencies by promptly returning all phone calls emails and relisting all defaulted auctions. The incumbent will be required to receive count items in a warehouse inventory system and record the data either manually or on a computer. This position is established as the primary position to execute the processes of online warehouse auctions in a timely manner. This position determines the most cost-effective sale/disposal format while minimizing environmental impact and transportation costs. Duties
Some of what you will be doinginclude:
Selling of surplus property at the Tumwater location via online auctions through- Work with transportation staff and places surplus items in the correct area of the warehouse while maintaining organization (forklifts and pallet jacks are used on a regular basis)
- Prepare online listings of surplus property (vehicles equipment warehouse items etc.) for sale to priority and public customers
- Provide positive customer service to both buyer and seller of assts on auction
- Clear communication with agencies and team members that are clear effective and professional
- Check in property and update information into the Surplus Request Management System (SRMS) computer program
- Evaluate property to determine best sales venue
- Ensure items are being tracked and labeled correctly in the SRMS
- Assists in load-outs vehicle jump-starts and freight preparation
- Correct handling of Affidavit of Loss
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
High school diploma or GED
AND
Two (2) years of experience evaluating a large variety of products and using asset comparison and research to create auction sales (experience may include but are not limited to: direct sales vehicle sales online sales direct marketing writing sales ads for major media sources such as online paper or television).
AND- Ability to take and edit digital photographs for the purpose of online sales
- Ability to research understand and share product knowledgeprofessionally through text and speech
- Ability to multitask;respond to emails answer phone calls and face to face interactions from both the public and partnering government agencies
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. or more on a regular basis and 75 lbs. or more occasionally
- Possess a valid Drivers License free from serious traffic violations
PREFERRED:- Proficient computer skills (Outlook Word Excel and Internet)
- Knowledge of commercial and/or Industrial Equipment tools/sales
- Experience with asset appraisal
- Familiar with vehicles and miscellaneous equipment
- General operating knowledge of small tech devices (cell phones tablets computers etc.)
