Job Summary

Position Summary

The Campus Safety/Facilities Manager coordinates daily facilities and security operations to ensure a safe clean and functional learning environment. The position supports day-to-day campus needs by working closely with faculty staff students and external vendors while helping maintain compliance with safety regulations and institutional policies. This combined departmental coordinating position is responsible for organizing team schedules works a security guard shift at any assigned campus location supports training initiatives and accepts duties as assigned.

Intermediate Excel skills UAS/Drone certification safety awareness detail oriented positive communication skills adaptable orderly with an emphasis on customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help coordinate maintenance and repair of classrooms labs offices and common areas
  • Monitor campus buildings and grounds for cleanliness functionality and safety
  • Manage work orders and respond to service requests from faculty and staff
  • Coordinate room setups for classes events and campus activities
  • Liaise with vendors contractors and custodial teams
  • Support visitor management and front desk security procedures
  • Monitor security systems (CCTV alarms) and report suspicious activity
  • Assist campus security or public safety officers with incident documentation
  • Conduct routine building checks to ensure safety and security
  • Support compliance with safety standards (OSHA NFPA campus policies)
  • Assist with emergency preparedness plans (evacuation lockdown severe weather)
  • Help coordinate safety drills and training for staff and students
  • Identify hazards and coordinate corrective actions
  • Assist with records for maintenance inspections and incident reports
  • Provide customer service to students faculty and visitors regarding facilities issues
  • Assist with scheduling and logistics for campus events
  • Support audits accreditation reviews and compliance documentation
  • Accept duties as assigned and performs any other duties to drive the Colleges Vision to fulfil the Colleges Mission and to abide by the Colleges Values

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Associates Degree or higher

Experience

  • 24 years of experience in facilities security or campus operations
  • Experience working in an educational environment is a plus
  • Knowledge of building systems and basic security procedures
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of NFPA 101 Life Safety Code
  • Familiarity with campus safety practices and emergency response

Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required

  • Ability to work closely and compatibly with multiple internal and external partners including HR IT Enrollment Management academic department/program heads other key staff law enforcement first responders vendors and contractors.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional and candid manner with students employees and the public regarding sensitive urgent and emergent matters.
  • Ability to prioritize work projects and schedule security guards into appropriate shifts at all campus locations.
  • Ability to resolve problems in a timely fashion using good reason and good judgment.
  • Ability to analyze de-escalate and diffuse difficult situations.
  • Ability to adapt to changing concerns and needs of the campus environment.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of industry safety and security standards and how to apply these directly to institutional needs.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills as well as proficiency in Microsoft office products specifically Word and Excel. Ability to utilize the internet for research and investigative purposes. Database management experience desired.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to be on call and respond to emergencies during non-duty hours and report for duty during inclement weather as an Essential Employee. Incumbent must agree in writing to this provision.
  • As this position is classified protective service in nature the incumbent must be willing to submit to an initial and random drug screening while employed in this role by Blue Ridge CTC .

Licensure/Certification Required

  • Must possess active or obtain and maintain active certification in CPR Basic First Aid and AED.
  • Must possess active or obtain within a reasonable period of time of hire OSHA 10-30 certification.
  • Must possess a UAS/Drone certification.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license and have transportation to report to any campus location as assigned especially in an emergency event. .

Physical/Work Demands

  • Must be on call to respond to emergencies at any time of day or night.
  • Must be able to stand walk and sit for long periods.
  • Must possess sufficient strength to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Must have visual acuity that allows incumbent to view CCTV monitors review reports and log book entries identify individuals vehicles license plate registration numbers and other material of significance regarding criminal behavior and other misconduct.
