About the role:

Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners for the position of Site Director - Surgical Training who is responsible for the direction of the education and training of prevocational trainees at St Vincents Hospital interested in pursuing a career in surgery.

Applicants must have a complimentary appointment within St Vincents Hospital which permits availability and flexibility to undertake the responsibilities of the position.

Selection Criteria:

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincents Health Australia.

  • Possess or be eligible to possess specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia

  • Possess Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS)

  • Sound knowledge of current contemporary clinical practice in Human Reliability Analysis in Surgery (HRA) and associated techniques

  • Complimentary appointment within St Vincents Hospital which permits availability and flexibility to undertake the responsibilities of the position.

  • A commitment to and confidence in improving the quality of surgical education and training offered by St Vincents

  • An understanding of the principles of adult education and professional development

  • A genuine interest in postgraduate medical education a willingness to develop expertise in surgery and a demonstrated understanding of the importance of the continuum of medical education as a lifelong professional commitment.
